You follow the road for 13 miles of single track road through magnificent landscapes - down the glen around the loch, past Blaven ("Blue Mountain") and around the hills to Elgol. Our chic little restaurant with rooms is waiting for you near the end of the track. Our home has a cool rustic style and Iain's ambrosial food flies from the kitchen. Tea and coffee with a sweet treat from our kitchen is available on arrival. The breakfast room runs along the front of the house with a string of windows that frame the view. Lime-washed walls, up-cycled and antique furniture, vintage design fabrics, a large day-bed in front of a fire.... Our airy rooms have big beds, mohair throws, white linen, robes in quirky bathrooms, slipper baths in The Steading... You can dine in our restaurant where a wood-burner keeps things cosy; lobster bisque with three breads and smoked tomato butter, sole and squat lobsters with sauce champenoise, venison musselburgh and fillet with pear and thyme crumble, ginger steamed pudding with cardamom ice cream, an assiette of delicious desserts, handpicked wines from around the world, an array of single malt whiskies, Highland gins. Drop down 2km to Elgol harbour, where Bonnie Prince Charlie fled for his life, and gaze upon the mighty Cuillin rising from the sea. Stags roam the hills, otters can be seen on the shores, eagles soar in the skies and boat trips to Loch Coruisk and the beautiful Small Isles of Rum and Canna can be arranged after a sumptuous breakfast of home baking.... Property and Cancelation Policies :
Payment of the cost of the accommodation booked becomes non-refundable for cancellations made with 42 days or less notice before the date of arrival where we are not able to re-let the room or rooms booked. For entire house reservations the cost of the accommodation booked becomes non-refundable 60 days before the date of arrival. We will ask that all guests can show, and will agree to claim on, travel insurance for a cancellation fee if for any reason a booking has to be cancelled by us or by a customer for reasons that are not within our control, including but not limited to government restrictions on travel and/or any limits on the services that we are able to provide in terms of our accommodation and the restaurant. We recommend that guests consider making payment with a credit card in order to take advantage of travel insurance that may be offered with a credit card together with rights under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Any deferral of a reservation will be at our discretion, but is our preferred option where cancellations are unavoidable for reasons solely caused by COVID restrictions.
Terms and Conditions
Bed and Breakfast Tariffs
Our bed and breakfast tariffs set out on our website do not include the cost of dinner. Please note that the price is per room and not per person. For bookings where all of our rooms are reserved, a higher bed and breakfast tariff will apply to allow us to bring in additional staff to accommodate and serve a larger group at one time. Please contact us for details. There is a maximum occupancy of two people per bedroom (only the Upper Steading Suite as advertised can accommodate two, three or four people with the number expressly given at the time of reservation). The use of our bedrooms, suites and en-suite shower and bathroom facilities are for the exclusive use of the occupants in whose name the reservation is made. Friends, family and other non-resident guests associated with resident house guests are welcome to use the common areas in Coruisk House itself, available to restaurant guests, but not the residents’ sitting rooms, bedrooms, suites and their en-suite facilities. The tariff for An Nead - our thatched cottage right next to Coruisk House - on our website is the self-catering tariff. Breakfast is available for an additional charge and if reserved 24 hours in advance.
Tariffs and prices for Coruisk House set out on third party websites and in third party publications will not be correct and the only tariffs that apply to a stay and dinner at Coruisk House are those set out on our website and in our literature.
The cream iron bed bedroom has a low ceiling (5 feet and five inches in height) between the room and the en-suite shower room and is therefore not suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 14 years in the rooms in Coruisk House and The Steading. Our cottage An Nead is suitable for children and a crib can be provided on request
We have one dog friendly accommodation. One well-behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement (p[lease telephone us on 01471 866 330) and if our dog friendly accommodation is available. We have three labradors on site at Coruisk House.
Our labrador dogs live in the house and will have access to some of the common areas of the house (the conservatory and dining room). We do suggest that our premises are not suitable for guests who do not like dogs.
Restaurant Reservation and Cancellation Terms
The restaurant is open by advance reservation only from 1 March 2023 until 30 October 2022. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. (Please contact us for details of limited restaurant opening - tables of four or more diners - for the restaurant during the winter and early spring). .Reservations at least 24 hours in advance (in quieter off season a week's notice is required) are essential and may on occasions be limited to house guests only. We are a small family run restaurant in a remote location. All dishes are cooked to order and we seek to provide the highest standard of food and service for our restaurant guests. We bring guests into our restaurant at 7 pm and offer a set four course menu at £85 per person. A cancellation fee of £85 per person is applied to the card given to secure the reservation where a restaurant reservation is cancelled with 48 hours or less notice.
Wedding and Entire House / Entire Restaurant Reservation and Cancellation Terms
We are delighted to cater for small, intimate weddings and ‘elopements’ (maximum 12 diners). For groups of ten or more diners we ask that all of our accommodations are reserved by the group for the evening of the dinner reservation. For groups of six or eight diners we ask that two or three of our rooms respectively are reserved by the group for the evening of the dinner reservation. Where all of our rooms are booked the cost of the accommodation becomes non-refundable 90 days before the date of arrival. The cost of the meal where the entire restaurant is reserved, is due and payable 60 days before the date of arrival and again becomes non-refundable on that date.
Restaurant Service Charge
The prices on our restaurant menus are exclusive of a service charge and the payment of a service charge is at the discretion of our customers. For groups of four diners or more, a discretionary service charge of 12.5% is added to the bill.
Room Reservation Terms
In order to allow us to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests there may be occasions where we have to ask guests to take an alternative accommodation to that reserved and we reserve the right to do so.
We ask for payment of the entire cost of accommodation at the time of reservation and a reservation is only confirmed on our receipt of the funds and an email from us confirming the reservation.

We take most debit or credit card details by telephone (long number, expiry date and CVV code). Unfortunately we cannot accept American Express cards. Please do not send card details by email as it is not secure to do so and we cannot accept card details sent by email.
The completion and submission of a Contact Us form on our website does not constitute a reservation. An email from us enclosing the completed Contact Us form does not constitute a reservation and acts simply as a record of your enquiry and request.
A reservation is only complete following our receipt of funds equal to the cost of the entire stay at Coruisk House and upon your receipt of our email confirming your reservation. We are not able to hold rooms pending receipt of payment of the accommodation. We will ask for card details on arrival to secure all liabilities under our terms and conditions set out on this web page.

Check In Time For Room Reservations
The house and your room will be available to you on the day of your arrival from 4pm. We would ask that house guests do not arrive before 4 pm as unfortunately we will not be able to welcome you in to Coruisk House before 4 pm on the date of arrival. As our busy evening restaurant service may prevent our being able to welcome you as fully as we would wish, please let us know if you are likely to arrive after 6pm. The latest time available for check-in is 11 pm and only by prior arrangement. We ask you to vacate your room on the morning of your departure by 10.30am.
Breakfast For House Guests
A cooked and continental breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9.30am. In the event that you wish to have an earlier breakfast we are happy to lay out a continental breakfast for you but unfortunately we will be unable to serve you ourselves in most instances before 8.30am.
Payment
We take most usual debit and credit cards except American Express. Please check in advance if in doubt.
Parking (No Campervans Please)
There is parking available for house guests and restaurant guests in front of Coruisk House. The car parking facilities are not suitable for campervans and any guests arriving in campervans will be required to park the vehicle elsewhere and not on our premises. There is very limited parking for campervans available in the immediate surroundings of Elgol and guests are advised to arrive at Coruisk House by car.
Damage And Items Removed From The Rooms and House
Accidents happen and where we can clean and replace with no cost or impact on future guests enjoyment of our premises, we do ..... That is not always possible and in order to preserve our substantial investment in the rooms at Coruisk House, the following terms apply. We charge for damage and breakages to any items in the rooms and the house, and/or for any items removed from the rooms and the house. The amount charged in all cases will be the full replacement cost of the item or items damaged or removed, and the relevant sum will be charged to the credit or debit card used to secure the reservation of the guest (or guests), whether or not the guest (or guests) involved in the item’s damage or removal is the card holder for the card details given to secure the relevant reservation. Damage for which payment will be taken in the term set out above is not limited to but includes heavy soiling of sheets, towels and bathrobes and stains and soiling of or on any items of furniture, soft furnishings, linens, rugs, drapes, blinds and/or carpets in any of the rooms in the house. We reserve the right to charge additional costs of cleaning items and furnishings where soiling as set out above has been caused by a guest and again the relevant sum will be charged to the credit or debit card given to secure the reservation.
No Smoking Policy
In accordance with legal requirements no guest may smoke, or allow another guest to smoke, in any of the rooms in the house, or in close proximity to the house (to prevent smoke being blown back in through an open window or door). Our no smoking policy applies to all cigarettes (including but not limited to, electronic cigarettes). Any guest who smokes or allows another guest to smoke in any of the rooms in the house, or in close proximity to the house (causing smoke to enter through an open window or door) will be charged an additional £400 (for additional cleaning and loss of later bookings affected due to odour) plus the cost of accommodating following guests in another hotel which will be charged to the card given to secure a reservation, and the guest or guests in breach of this no smoking policy will be asked to leave immediately. The £400 plus alternative accommodation costs for following guests and the total cost of any booking made in relation to the guest or guests involved will be immediately due and payable and will be charged to the card given to secure the reservation, whether or not the guest or guests acting in breach of the no smoking policy is/are the card holder(s) of the card given to secure the relevant reservation. Where the damage concerned renders the accommodation unlettable at the above bed and breakfast tariffs, compensation charged to the card will also include business interruption costs.
No Guest Laundry Service At Coruisk House
Unfortunately we are not able to offer a laundry service for guests’ clothes. There are public launderettes in Kyle of Lochalsh and Portree.
Pets
We have one dog friendly suite available by reservation. One well-behaved dog is very welcome with prior notice and if the dog-friendly suite is available. We do however charge at full replacement value for any damage to any items including but not limited to furniture, furnishings and decor. The compensation payment for damage will be processed using the card details provided on reservation or arrival.
Possessions
Guests are asked to take care of all possessions as unfortunately we are unable to accept liability for any items removed from the rooms and/or the house without the owner’s consent.
Nuisance
Any guest who is abusive to staff or who causes a public nuisance or who behaves in a manner which adversely affects the enjoyment of other guests will be asked to leave immediately. The total remaining costs of any room reservations, meals and drinks in relation to the guest involved in the nuisance behaviour will be immediately due and payable and will be charged to the card given to secure the room, whether or not the guest involved in the nuisance behaviour is the card holder of the card given to secure the room reservations.

The details given on our sample menu and shown on our Restaurant page are indicative only and both content and price will vary.
We make every effort to ensure that wi-fi, television and other similar technological facilities are available to you if desired, but our remote location is such that these cannot always be guaranteed. There is no mobile signal in Elgol and on the Strathaird peninsula.
We are sorry but as our rooms are located on the first floor of Coruisk House and The Steading they cannot be accessed by people who are unable to climb stairs and may be unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties. Please do contact us if you are unsure as to whether our accommodation is suitable for your requirements. For guests with limited mobility, An Nead is the most accessible of our accommodations and is all on ground floor level.
This contract and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Parties to this contract irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with this agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims)
