The Lake Superior Lodge, formerly the Winfield Inn, is under new ownership and management. We are looking forward to meeting the needs of past visitors as well as new guests exploring the area for the first time. The Lake Superior Lodge has a beautifully landscaped property with onsite gardens offered nowhere else in Bayfield Wisconsin. We offer 20 standard motel units, all non smoking with king of two double beds and a lake view. In addition to the 20 hotel rooms, we have 6 condo suites (4 - 2-bedroom, and 2 1-bedroom suites).
Under new ownership, the Lake Superior Lodge promises excellent new amenities, has plans to offer great eats in coming seasons as well as events for patrons and area vacationers are in the works.

- Check-out time: 11:00 a.m. Seize the day, friend!
- Late Check-out: 1:00 p.m. As available, for an additional fee of 30% of the nightly room rate
- We believe the children are our future, but you still have to be 21 years old and present to book a room.
- All requests to reserve a room must include the first and last name of all adults occupying the room and a valid credit card for guarantee of arrival.
- Our room rates are always awesome, and they are subject to change.
- All rooms are subject to a 14% tax. Yay, taxes!
- Group trips are fun! When booking, keep maximum occupancy rules in mind- two people max for rooms with a single bed (Queen or King) and four people max for rooms with multiple beds. Got babies? We’ve got pack-and-play and cribs available upon request, subject to availability.
- Reservations with a full cost of less than $400 are subject to a deposit of the full cost of the reservation
COVID-19 POLICIESGuests who have been exposed to COVID-19, displayed COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat) should find lodging elsewhere. For the safety of long-term guests and employees, the Lake Superior Lodge is not offering respite rooms at this time. Should you fall ill during your stay, please notify staff so we can block your room for hazard cleaning upon your departure and connect you to any medical resources you may need. Social distancing is required in all common areas. Please call the virtual front desk or email firstname.lastname@example.org to connect with us.
CHECK-IN POLICYReservations should be prepaid with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Upon check-in, any remaining amount due will be charged to your credit card including the total amount of the room and tax. A valid ID matching the name on the credit card must be presented upon check-in or a previously approved credit card authorization must be on file. In response to the pandemic, all Check-ins are offered as contactless. Please Check-in via the cell phone app, by email, or by the virtual front desk.
CANCELLATION POLICYLife happens. We get that. Reservations are fully refundable 14 days prior to check-in. Reservations cancelled between 2 and 14 days will be 50% refundable. Cancellations received within 48 hours prior to check-in will not be refunded or credited, and will be charged in full. SMOKING POLICYBreathe easy. The Lake Superior Lodge has an indoor non-smoking policy. This applies to both traditional smoking methods and all electronic delivery systems, including vapes, vaporizers, vape pens, hookah pens, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes or e-cigs), e-pipes, and any variations of the foregoing regardless of the product’s name. Any smoking in the rooms or strong lingering smoking scents in rooms will result in a disappointed look and a $250 room cleaning fee.
DAMAGE & REPLACEMENT POLICY
PET POLICYAre we pet friendly? Unfortunately, we are not.
ROOM POLICYWe want you to have a great time when you are here. But if things get too crazy, we go by the old-school rule of ‘you break it, you buy it’ and property damages or missing items will be charged to your credit card at market value. Pre-existing damages or room issues must be reported to Lake Superior Lodge personnel immediately after registration to avoid responsibility and potential charges. The hotel allows guests, with permission, to receive occasional packages and special deliveries at the property. We are not responsible for the packages or their contents or the storage of them. Sing your heart out and have passionate conversation all day long, but from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the whole property goes into hush mode for what we like to call quiet time (or sleep time).
KITCHEN ROOM POLICYPlease practice safe cooking habits and do not leave burners unattended. Please do not cook with strong smelling ingredients. Lingering smells that require room closure and deep cleans will be charged a cleaning fee of up to $150.
PARKING POLICYVacations should be stress-free and for that reason, you get to park right in front of your room (or super close). By parking a vehicle at our facility, you (and your guests) are doing so on your own accord. The hotel does not take responsibility or accept liability for damage, accident or loss to your vehicle or personal property. But guess what? We’ve got state-of-the-art surveillance cameras watching over the parking lot so, should anything seem amiss, let us know, and we’ll check out the footage. And if you plan on leaving your car in our parking lot for a while, no problem, just let us know, as we reserve the right to tow vehicles.
MINIMUM AGE POLICYAll guests must be 21 years or older to confirm guestroom accommodations at the Lake Superior Lodge . A valid photo ID must be presented at the time of check in for age verification.
ADA POLICYThe Lake Superior Lodge is compliant with the American’s With Disabilities Act (ADA). We offer accessible rooms within the hotel. Please ensure requests reach us by placing it in the comments section of the online reservation form, or by calling us directly after the reservation has been made.
ROOM CLEANING POLICYIn response to COVID-19 recommendations from the CDC, lodging associations, and science, we have suspended room refresh services for in-house guests and increased room cleaning protocols. In each room and in all common areas we are utilizing EPA approved disinfectant shown effective against COVID-19. If fresh towels or linens are needed during your stay, please contact us and they will deliver them to your door. If a room refresh is desired, certain protocols will need to be followed and an additional fee will be assessed at check-out. The Lake Superior Lodge’s cleaning standards are above and beyond county, state and federal recommendations but we are unable to offer a guarantee of non-exposure and any guest or person who is on property accepts the risk of transmission of any and all illnesses.
FIREARMS POLICYAny guest or visitor who is in possession of a firearm on hotel premises is personally responsible for abiding by all applicable federal, state and local laws with respect to firearms. Subject to the following restrictions, guests of the Lake Superior Lodge who are lawfully permitted to possess a firearm may bring such firearm onto hotel premises, provided that the presence of the firearm on hotel premises: is for storage purposes only; the firearm is and remains at all times unloaded; the firearm is and remains secured in a locked, hard-sided firearm container, provided by the guest, while transported to or from the guest room and while stored therein; and the firearm remains securely safeguarded at all times in a locked guest room or locked personal vehicle, except when transporting the firearm to or from a guest room. Guests who fail to abide by this policy may be asked to leave the hotel premises, without refund. The hotel premises are private property, and our firearms policy applies to: (i) all firearms, regardless of whether the firearm is a handgun or a long-barreled gun; and (ii) all guests and visitors, even those possessing a valid license or permit to carry a firearm. The only exception to the restrictions described in this firearms policy statement is for law enforcement officers and designated military personnel, who are on-duty and required to carry firearms in the performance of their duties.
GUEST SAFETY POLICYAs part of our commitment to guest safety, employees will not disclose the identity, room number or presence of a guest to anyone other than appropriate law enforcement. This includes the taking of or delivery of messages or indirect forwarding of phone calls. It is the responsibility of guests to communicate their presence and room number to any person they wish to receive calls or visits from. Safety cameras are used throughout the premises, and anyone on our property may be recorded. The lodge assumes no responsibility for any personal bodily injury incurred while on property.
