Return to simplicity at over 9000 feet.  The Dao House is a rustic mountain lodge located on 84 acres adjacent to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We have the privilege of being nestled between Longs Peak and the Twin Sisters Mountain. This property is only a few minutes from downtown Estes Park and less than 10 miles from the entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Guests are welcomed with warm, mountain hospitality at our rustic Inn and can choose from our 28 Double Queen or 6 Single King cozy lodge rooms. Whether you are visiting for a chance to explore the outdoors or to relax and revitalize, the Dao House idyllic setting is perfect for everyone. Guests can relax in the grand lobby or on the porch after a day of adventuring in the parks. We are the perfect setting if you wish to Unplug, Unwind and Connect with nature.  We have consciously removed televisions from our property to encourage our guests to relax and return to simplicity. We have free Wi-Fi for our guests with no password required.

Other amenities on-site include horseshoes, tai chi, qui gong, meditation, tennis, hiking, oxygen lounge therapy and nature watching!  Unfortunately, due to the abundance of natural wildlife that roam our property we do not allow pets or animals of any kind.

Terms and Conditions

Payments, Deposits, Cancellation Fees: When booking a stay, a valid credit card is required to confirm a reservation.  The one night deposit will be charged 7 days prior to your arrival.  If you cancel within the 7 day window you loose your one night deposit.  Payment in full is due upon arrival and may be made by cash, credit, or debit card. All rates are subject to change.  A fee exceeding your room rate of $250.00 will be authorized on your card at check-in for security and damages.

Check-in, Check-out, Late Check-out: Check-in time is at 4:00 pm. Check-out time is at 11:00 am. Enjoy your stay a little longer by requesting a late checkout. Please note, if a late check-out is not requested and a guest stays in the room between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, the guest will be charged half the amount of a one-night stay. If the guest stays later than 4:00 pm, an additional night will be charged. 

Smoking:
 All units are non-smoking, Smoking is not allowed anywhere within buildings on Dao House Property, nor within 25 feet of the exterior of any building structure, or on the decks or patios of the main lodge, restaurant, and cabins, unless specifically states.  Non-compliance with this policy will result in a minimum fee of $300, and potentially be asked to leave the property. If you decide to smoke outside please be aware of wind patterns which may require you to venture beyond 25 feet to smoke, open windows and doors, and most importantly our other guests; we want everyone to enjoy their stay.  Do so at least 25 feet away from any entrance.  

We are 420 Friendly outdoors.

Other thoughts to keep in mind: 
Life is different at 9200 feet above sea level, and it can be quite an adventure:

Location, Weather and Snow:
 The entrance to the Property is off Highway 7 about halfway between mile markers 7 and 8; the roads on our property are not paved. During snow season be aware Highway 7 and our private roads get cleared when the snow falls.  We do our best to keep our property shoveled and plowed but recommend that guests bring shoes with good traction and or cramp-ons to help prevent falls. Some of our travelers have had difficulty getting up our driveway during the winter therefore we strongly recommend that you have an All-Wheel(AWD) or four-wheel (4WD or 4x4) drive vehicle during the winter months; we are here to help those who get stuck, however our availability to assist you may require a long wait. If you are curious about what the weather could be like during your stay, we recommend using a weather application and compare two locations, Allenspark, CO. and Estes Park, CO, in order to get a more accurate forecast. Keep in mind the weather in Colorado changes quite rapidly, and at our location we have our own microclimate conditions, making weather forecasting a challenge and not always accurate. 


TV, Internet and Cellular Service:
 We are at 9200 above sea level and are surrounded by unparalleled views of nature and wildlife that Colorado has to offer. We have made a conscious decision to not have televisions in our rooms in order to aid in our guests ability to decompress. We are happy to announce the highly anticipated return of WiFi - COMING IN JUNE!. As we are located between Longs Peak (a Colorado 14er) and Twin Sisters mountains we cannot promise it will be the best WiFi ever - but we are trying and happy to share with our guest whatever WiFi capability we can assume. For better guaranteed reception, we suggest a mere 7-minute drive away to peaceful Lily Lake.  We do have our landlines available free of charge to our guests for all domestic calls. 


Pets: Unfortunately due the abundance of free roaming wildlife we do NOT allow animals or pets of any kind on property.


Tavern: Our Tavern is opened seasonally and not during the fall/winter months.  We do have a lobby gift shop and some snacks available to purchase. We can also make recommendations for places to grab some food in Estes Park, which is a beautiful drive and only 7 miles away.
 
Miscellaneous: Staffing at the top of the world is our biggest challenge; we run a very streamlined team.  It is our pleasure to help with any reasonable request. We are here to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We enjoy meeting our guests and sharing with them our beautiful views and unique experience. 
 
Dao House is one of a kind and well worth the visit.
