Gardiner House Hostel – Good to Know Before You Arrive
At Gardiner House Hostel, we’re all about great memories, comfort and good company. To help you get the most out of your stay with us in Dublin, here’s everything you need to know – from check-in details and ID requirements to group bookings and house rules.🕒 Check-in & ID Requirements
- Check-in starts at 3:00 PM.
- Non-EU citizens must present a valid passport.
- EU citizens may use a passport, national ID card or driver’s licence.
- A debit or credit card under the guest's name is required at check-in (no upfront charge).
- If you don’t have a personal card, a €30 card deposit will be requested.
👶 Age Restrictions
- Irish law prohibits accommodation of children under 8 years in hostels.
- Guests aged 8 to 17 are only allowed when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and must stay in private rooms only – dorm sharing with other guests is not allowed.
👥 Group Bookings & Deposits
- For groups of 4 or more, a €30 deposit per person is required at check-in, paid in one single card transaction. This is refundable at check-out, assuming no damages or disturbances occur.
- For groups of 12 or more, the deposit must be paid in advance via a secure payment link, sent two months before your check-in date.
- You’ll have 15 days to complete the payment.
- If the deposit isn’t paid in time, your booking may be cancelled.
- The deposit becomes non-refundable if the group size drops by more than 50%, or if the booking is cancelled less than one month before arrival.
💳 Payment Terms
- If you book a Non-Refundable rate, the full payment will be charged immediately after booking – no exceptions.
- For Flexible rate plans, payment will be charged 2 days prior to arrival, either in part or in full, depending on your booking terms.
- Please note: No refunds are available in case of cancellation, no-show, early departure or modifications that do not comply with the policy.

- We offer secure luggage storage for in-house guests only, available for a small additional fee. Perfect if you’re arriving early or leaving late.

- Gardiner House is not responsible for the loss, theft or damage of personal belongings.
- We reserve the right to refuse admission at any time.
- Any anti-social, aggressive, xenophobic or racist behaviour will result in immediate removal from the hostel without refund.
