Al Lago is a family run little gem of a hotel and renowned restaurant. Located in the picturesque pueblo of Zahara de la Sierra, overlooking mountains and an azure lake, our village was recently voted one of Spain’s most beautiful heritage ‘white villages’ and part of the “rutas de pueblos blancos”. Zahara sits in the dramatic landscape of the “Sierra de Grazalema” a protected nature reserve popular for hiking, painting, wildflowers, horse trails, picturesque bike paths, birdwatching and nearby paragliding. Summer offers activities on the lake and local pool and playita. Within close proximity is the historic town of Ronda, the sherry bodegas of Jerez and the flamenco bars of Sevilla. A family run countryside boutique hotel and restaurant, close to Ronda. Chef, Stefan Crites, left his native Columbus Ohio in 1992 to pursue his culinary career in New York. He spent 12 years honing his craft in the city that never sleeps before moving to Southern Spain with wife Mona to begin the adventure that would lead them to Al Lago. Mona, originally a textile designer with her own boutique in New York has decorated Al Lago, both the public areas and bedrooms with an imaginative flair using local materials to create comfortable, simple spaces, all facing towards Zahara´s landscapes. Together with their friendly local staff, all from the village, they run Al lago as a relaxed “home away from home”.RESTAURANT
In our well established restaurant, which was originally a “venta,” we source local ingredients to recreate the rustic dishes of Andalucia with a fresh, modern approach. Meals can be enjoyed out on our terrace overlooking the lake and mountains dotted with olive trees. In winter the elegant dining room beckons, with its fireplace and comfy sitting area. Al Lago´s well stocked bar, serves cold tapas as well as freshly baked treats and home made ice creams, cocktails, freshly made lemonade, hot chocolate and Morrocan mint tea in addition to all the usual refreshments.A warm welcome!

IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO SMOKE INSIDE THE BEDROOMS AND DINING AREAS. THERE IS A DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA.
A 100 EURO CLEANING FEE WILL BE CHARGED IF YOU SMOKE INSIDE YOUR ROOM.
COTS ARE FREE OF CHARGE BUT MUST BE RESERVED AHEAD OF TIME.
