UTULA NATURE is a restorative retreat centre in the beautiful wild nature of the Lake Saimaa archipelago, Finland.

We offer a unique atmosphere created by pure nature, beautiful spaces, soulful food and a weekly program to restore
and reflect and away from the pressures of our stressful lifestyle choices.

Our retreat experience is created to slow us down, bring us to the present moment, return from our heads to our bodies and to give us space to reflect on ourselves and our lives.

The main elements of our restorative retreats are:

1) We are an ongoing retreat, meaning you can choose the arrival date and length of your stay (3 nights min. & 21 nights max.)

2) Integrated silence in our concept, silent accommodations, silent breakfast and reflective days (silent days).  Silence and cutting down on the stimuli in our environment, that comes from talking and being socially engaged with each other is a powerful tool to connect to ourselves, to hear our own thoughts, feel our feelings and our bodies.

3) Weekly program which supports mindfulness, embodiment, rest and meditation, mindful movement, yin yoga, restful meditation (reclined), guided nature walks, time for facilitated reflective writing and sharing in community.

4) Optional digital detox, meaning you can hand over your electronic devices to the care of the hosts, if you want to experience how it feels to totally detox from the virtual world and how powerfully it brings you back to the present moment and yourself.

5) Option to make your retreat fully silent (no talking).  Fully silent retreat is a powerful experience, if you want to turn towards your inner experience and connect with yourself.

6) Adaptability of the retreat experience, all participation in group activities are optional.  If you want, you can come here simply to enjoy down time, the beauty of nature and tasty food in a supported and relaxed environment.  Choose how much you wish to share and be social vs. be in your own space and have reflection time freely.

All this is supported by calming interior spaces, beautiful lakeside nature, comfort, tasty food and welcoming and warm hosts!

Utula Nature is a haven to retreat in the beautiful pure lakeside archipelago of Finland. Our restorative retreat offers a safe space to rest, recuperate and reconnect with yourself in the hectic pace and pressures of modern life.  We accommodate max. 10 people at a time, which keeps the experience intimate and ensures enough space and quiet for everyone.

Saimaa is the jewel of the Finnish lakeland, it is the 4th biggest lake in Europe and the vastest one in Finland.  It is known for it's rich abundance and diversity of wildlife and aquatic species including the protected Saimaa Seal.

Utula Nature is a place for people who;

need a break to slow down and reconnect to the present moment,
are exhausted or stressed and need a supportive environment to recuperate and restore their energy,
want to deepen connection to themselves and to reflect.

Your hosts are Maiju, yin yoga teacher, mindfulness instructor and nature therapy guide and Paolo, chakra yoga teacher, breathwork therapist and culinary artist.
We also have a beautiful retreat dog, Hani the labrador retriever who is friendly, social and respectful. Read more about us on our webpage  www.utulanature.com

What to expect at Utula Nature

We are bilingual, our operating languages are Finnish and English.  Half of the classes are held in English, others are in Finnish unless we have non-Finnish customers, then all will be held in English.  Sharing in our sharing circles can be done in your own language.

We have 5 accommodation rooms with 2 beds, 2 rooms in a twin lakeside view cottage and 3 forest cabins with 2 beds and a private mini-terrace.  Rooms are sold as shared 2 person dorms, single occupancy or twin/double occupancy.  Our accommodations are silent, meaning no talking or sound in the rooms, unless you agree otherwise with your roommate.

We have a mainhouse on the beach with shared lounging space and dining space including a big main terrace.

Our yoga tent is also on the main beach and is the space of most of our group classes.

A lakefront sun deck with lounge chairs, perfect for those famous Saimaa sunsets.

Picnic tables for outdoor dining.

Hammocks for relaxing in our surrounding nature.

The beach swing.

Wood sauna and warm outdoor shower / washing area

3 x composting ecotoilets

We are situated on our own family owned 200m natural beach with a soft sandy bottom, perfect for swimming and bathing and a beautiful reed bay on the sauna beach.

We are surrounded by Pine forest with fresh wild mushrooms and blueberries throughout the summer.

Then are beautiful forest trails to a nearby panoramic public beach.

We have a rowing boat, SUP boards and life jackets available for you to explore the nearby lake-shore and islands.

We serve 3 tasty and soulful vegetarian buffet meals each day, our kitchen is a fusion of globally inspired recipes with a strong Mediterranean twist.  Garlic, tomatoes, olives, cheeses and fresh herbs are very present in our kitchen.

Reflective Days 1&2  are days for introspection and full silence, during which you can try a 24-hour full/ fruit fast (from Sunday dinner to Monday dinner) in a safe environment if you wish. Food and talking are things in our everyday life that easily take our attention outside of ourselves. Fasting and not speaking support each other as we turn inward into our own skins to feel our bodies, become aware of our feelings and hear our thoughts even more deeply. During the day, fruit and refreshments are constantly available and  dinner is served normally to break the fast. Tuesday's meals are served as normal, but keeping the silence to deepen the introspection. The reflection period ends in sharing circle, if you wish to share about your experience in group.
Mindful Monday's  are offered at a reduced rate to compensate for the reduced food intake.

At Utula Nature, we wish to offer you a space for an experience that revitalizes the body and mind and fills life with juice and new inspiration. Come visit us alone or in a group. Get to know us more closely from the link below!
