Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to allguests accommodated and taking surf lessons or renting boards.
Check in-Check out:
Full payment of our packages - accommodation / surf class will be required upon your arrival. The customer will be accommodate/have class if the same do the full payment is done upon the arrival.
A valid, photo ID is mandatory at check in.The ID will be will be scanned and saved into our system along with your e-mail, address and home phone number.
Check in: 2:00pm (two in the afternoon). Check out: 12:00am (mid-day).
Will be billed the equivalent of 50% of the daily rate for the period in question in case after of the closing time check-out (12:00 - noon).
Reception working hours:
Reception works: 7 am (seven in the morning) to 7 pm (seven at night).
Arrivals out of reception hours:
For arrivals out of reception hours, customers must inform either by e-mail or phone at least one day before.
The prices are quoted in emails is per day for lodging in simple low season. Holidays and special events (WT Billabong Pro, Rock in Rio, Carnival, New Year, Confederations Cup, World Youth Day, etc.) should be consulted including the date and name of the event refers. The Rio Surf N Stay is not responsible for emails not cleared properly reserving to change the price quotation as the event in question.
50% deposit payment is required for booking confirmation when booking directly with Rio Surf n Stay. Special dates including Brazilian holidays, New Years and Carnival different conditions will be applied for booking confirmation.
Pre-booking is valid for 48 hours and after that period, if not deposited the amount, the reservation is automatically canceled without notice.
We are not responsible for the information sent via e-mail or phone in case of payments by credit card.
Changing your Booking or Package:
Rio Surf n Stay will make every effort to arrange any changes requested before guest arrival. Any changes prior arrivals are subjected to availability of date and surf instructor.
If external conditions (bad weather, bad waves, major injuries or others) do not allow the package to be complete, the Rio Surf n Stay will refund the amount of money related to the activities not completed.
Any changes on your package for personal reasons may cause the cancellation of any discounts previously applied to the offered package.
Should you or any named person on the booking form need to cancel bookings or lessons once it has been confirmed and paid with a deposit, then we must be notified as soon as possible.
Deposit refunds are available, from the moment Rio Surf N Stay is given notice by e-mail, as bellow:
15 days prior arrival: 70% deposit pay back
7 days prior arrival: 50% deposit pay back
3 days prior arrival: 20% deposit pay back
Non-attendance on the day of check-in and/or early check-out does not give entitlement to refund or reduction of values.
Cancellation package holidays / special events there will be no refunds or transfer of credits for later use by third parties.
We will not refund the amount of fees, commission, or any extra charges made by travel agencies, Hostel Bookers or Hostel World, in any circumstances. In case of refund, we’ll discount the amount of the agency in the calculation.
Payments by credit card are not refundable in cash. For cancellations of payments with credit cards, the amount to be refund will be returned the same way it was paid, depending on the credit card company it can take over a week to be confirmed.
Rio Surf n Stay will issue a FULL credit for re-bookings within a 1 year, in order to use a credit already paid. This credit will vary according to availability. For special season, Rio Surf N Stay doesn’t issue credit.
Rio Surf n Stay will allow transfer your booking to another person, as long as it is made by written notice.
Cancellations and delays for desease or accident reasons will be refound/changed, since proven with certificate.
Problems and solutions:
The Rio Surf N Stay reserves the right to have a period of one day (24 hours) to cope with any problems involving the hostel, concerning door locks, electric showers, air conditioners, water pump, drains, TV, DVD , computers, refrigerators, ovens and stoves, shelves, beds, bath clothes, bedding, sofa, or all installations, electronic equipment and appliances. That also includes equipment and vehicles from the surf school. If the repair cannot be done, the customer will receive a discount on the stay. Also we are not responsible for external problems such as lack of electric power signals and internet and cable TV.
Emergency & Insurance:
Your travel insurance may provide a full refund for your booking, and we recommend that all clients have a suitable insurance policy prior to booking.
We recommend you to have health insurance to cover yourself in case of injuries and health emergencies.
Rio Surf n Stay will not be liable or responsible for any health related problems during your stay at our accommodation.
Customers taking lessons or hiring surf equipment, must have travel insurance in order to participate in our activities. The information related to the insurance company, should be given at the check in for emergency purposes.
Payment & Discounts:
The balance is due at the time of your arrival date.
If the full payment is not done upon arrival, any discount will voided.
Payments by deposit:
The booking will only be confirmed when the deposit is seen in our bank account.
If the customer wants to ensure that the same reservation is made, we offer the option to pay via credit card.
If the customer wants the book with less than two working days, the same should be aware that the booking will not be guaranteed until visualization of the deposit in the bank account of Rio Surf n Stay.
If he insists with the deposit with less than two working days and at the check in it is still not displayed in the bank account of Rio Surf n Stay, the client can only stay if he pays the full amount of the stay.
Kids under 3 years old stay free.
Payments done by card during check-in and check-out are subject to availability/functionality of the card machine. If machine is not in working conditions customers must find other payment methods as cash, PayPal or bank deposit, followed by print voucher.
All promotions and discounts are not valid for holidays and special events in Brazil / Rio de Janeiro.
Any personal belongings left on the beach are at all times your personal responsibility. We are not to be taken responsibility for any lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced items.
Any personal belongings left in our vehicle during the surf lesson period are your personal responsibility.
Any personal belongings missing in the house during any activities, is not of the Rio Surf n Stay responsibility, therefore, no reimbursements will be done from its end.
Personal belongings left in shared and private rooms should be the customer's responsibility. The Rio Surf N Stay offers keys for private rooms and recommends lockers for valuables to be stored for shared rooms.
The Rio Surf n Stay does not take or keep any customer belongings in any circumstances. Customers are recommended to bring a padlock for his/her own backpack/suitcase, so all personal belongings can be locked.
As we allow you to cook and use all the house facilities and devices, please use them as they are yours. Make sure the kitchen is clean after your use, including the stove. Clean yourself before entering the house and please take in consideration other things that can interfere with others. If major items in the house are broken for misuse or inconsiderate use, such as computer, TV, windows, doors, beds or other valuable items the guest will be charge according to the market price.
The air conditioning in the rooms are fired every day at 22:00 and off at 8:00 am the next day. It is not allowed to operate the air during the day. The temperature of the air conditioning is standard, being around 21ºC to 25ºC.
If you are renting a surfboard during your stay, you need to make sure the board is in perfect condition, before entering the water. That means no dings or problems with the board before rent it. We ask you to please exam the board with one of our instructors and fill out a form. If the board seems to have previous damages we need to be notified. After using the surfboard an instructor will examine to see if there’s any damage made during the rental. If damages were made to the board, you will be responsible to pay the full cost of repair. If you choose to rent a wetsuit it will be your full responsibility to return it as it was given to you. If stolen or lost you will be responsible to replace it. If torn or damaged you will be responsible to fix it.
Equipment rental for guests is only allowed if it makes the prior payment and inform the credit card details. If there is any damage / theft / loss of the same, the customer will be charged according to the value of each piece of equipment, including: surfboards, splinter, wetsuits, etc..
In the rare event that Rio Surf n Stay considers sea conditions to be unsuitable for surf classes we have 2 options:
1) Your lesson will be re-arranged for an alternative date / time.
2) A credit voucher will be issued. The same needs to be used within 1 year, from the date of cancellation.
If neither of the 2 options above is possible we will refund your money.
Any lessons owed must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
Students taking Lessons:
If you are careless with our equipment you will be held responsible to replace or be charged for those damages. The surf school will be responsible for fixing minor dings and damages to the surfboards that happened during the surf lessons. If surfboard is broken in half the student will be charge the market value of the board. You must at all times follow the surfers rule when you’re in the water and respect other students and locals around you. You must follow the instructor’s rules and respect there judgment of the water conditions. If you have an accident or injuries we are not to be held responsible in any way. We are not liable for any damages you do to yourself or others. You must be aware of the dangers surfing can bring. If you injure another person during your surf lesson you will be held responsible to deal with their personal medical needs. If you damage a surfer’s board that is not part of our surf school you will be held responsible for paying the repair cost of that board. Our Instructors are trained and promise to supervise you in and out of the water to provide you with a safe surf lesson. We will help you progress and teach you about the many aspects of surfing. Any personal belongings left in our vehicle or at the beach during the surf lesson period are your personal responsibility. Rash guards will be available for your personal use during the time of lesson or rental. It will be your responsibility to replace if forgotten or stolen during the time it was used.
Our transfers are an outsourced service, where the Rio Surf N Stay just be responsible for contact with the driver. For problems with delays and incorrectly information sent to Rio Surf N Stay, Rio Surf N Stay is not liable for the drivers and not by customers.
The customer is responsible for guaranteeing the cost of the transfer (driver) if it has flight delays and cancellations without notice of at at least 24 hours before carrying out the requested service.
In this act, and for all purposes allowed in law, I expressly authorize the use of my image and voice, definitively and free, in photos and footage arising from my participation in the company Rio Surf n Stay . The images and the voice can be displayed on any means of dissemination used by the said company, as follows: website, social media, videos, brochures, catalog and presentations.
I agree and understand the Rio Surf n Stay terms and conditions as a student or a guest. By signing here I accept everything stated and with my knowledge that I will be responsible for all my actions and injuries. If I don’t have health insurance I am fully responsible of any injuries. The surf lesson or board rental will be at my own risk.
Rio Surf n Stay reserves the right to makechanges on any terms and conditions described above without prior notice.
