Historic hotel and Lebanese restaurant in the heart of Deir el Qamar, Chouf mountains
Deir al Oumara is a Historic Hotel in the heart of Deir el Qamar, in Mount Lebanon. Located a charming walk away from the town’s public square, it offers breathtaking views of the opposite villages across the Lebanese Chouf mountains.
Classified as a Historic Hotel by the Ministry of Tourism, Deir al Oumara was originally built during the Emirate of Mount Lebanon two centuries ago, as a palace for Emir Bashir II’s main advisor Boutros Karame. At the turn of the 20th century, the edifice evolved into various educational institutions, from the famous École des Frères boarding school, to a centre for teaching and solidarity run by the community, to a public school for Deir el Qamar and the region.
It wasn’t until 2014 that it became a hotel for friends and families to bask in its heritage and be part of its ongoing story. Today, Deir al Oumara houses twenty large converted rooms and suites, and a contemporary Lebanese restaurant: Soufrat al Oumara. It offers a unique venue for weddings and festive occasions, as well as multiple business or leisure activities on-site and across the region.
Deir al Oumara is a 40-minute smooth drive away from Beirut, Lebanon.
