Set in a 19th century building in the heart of the World Heritage Listed Old Town, our hostel is located 50 metres from the Royal Mile, the ancient thoroughfare and main pulse of this cosmopolitan city. With the train station and airport shuttle bus being less than two minutes away we are conveniently located for transport, making Edinburgh Backpackers Hostel easy to find, but difficult to leave.
During the day you can explore the world-renowned Castle, Holyrood Palace, Cathedral and Princes Street area, all a short stroll from the hostel. Then when the sun goes down all the main pubs and restaurants are right there for your enjoyment.With an unbeatable location, friendly staff, comfortable beds and an international atmosphere, Edinburgh Backpackers Hostel is the best place to stay whilst in Edinburgh.
Our hostel is spread across 4 buildings, and bookings may be assigned to any of these buildings.
Groups of 8 or more need to contact the Booking Office to make a reservation - reservations@hoppo.com. Any booking made online for 8 or more people will be automatically cancelled.

(not a specific room). Each room type includes similar rooms of similar size and equipment, however, interior design can
be different. Reservations can only be taken and confirmed by making an
advance payment of 100% of the full rental amount. This can be
paid using debit and credit cards (online).
We will process your booking within 48 hours of receiving your
request. Please note, your booking has not been made or verified until
you receive a confirmation email. Bookings made on Google or directly through the Edinburgh Backpackers Website will be charged at time of booking, If the card declines, the booking will be cancelled. If cancelled up to 48 hours prior to arrival (unless on a Special Event date, where no refund is due), a 75% refund will be processed within 3 days.

We do not accept Stag or Hen bookings. If you book a Stag or Hen party, your booking will be cancelled/you will be refused check in.
No under 12's in our hostels under any circumstances.
No under 18's in our dormitories, all 12-18 year olds must be booked into a private room with an adult
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate pets!
Please note Edinburgh Backpackers does not have storage for bicycles.
No-shows shall be charged the equivalent of the first 3 nights.
Photo ID (drivers license, passport) is required to check in to the hostel. If you're unable to produce photo ID on arrival we will not honor your booking.
Group bookings of more than 8 people must contact us directly before you make the booking. Be aware that if you book online for a group, your reservation will be cancelled.
