Hawthorn House is a historic home built in 1849 and located at 2 Chestnut Street in Nantucket.  Hawthorn House is 3 blocks from the Steamship Authority Terminal and 4 blocks from the Straight Wharf ferries.  

There are 9 rooms, 8 with en suite bathrooms.  They are decorated in a simple, traditional style with some antique furnishings. A studio apartment is available with a full kitchen, and there is also suite with a queen size bed.  Hawthorn House is not a Bed and Breakfast, and only offers coffee and tea for refreshments.  Our establishment is no frills in favor of offering the lowest rates in Downtown Nantucket  We encourage our guests to take advantage of the location and experience all that Nantucket has to offer! We are the ideal accomodation for those looking to explore Nantucket from a convenient, and comfortable Downtown location.

Full Charge - Full Stay - If cancelled within 2 days of arrival

Partial Charge - 85% of Full Stay - If cancelled within 14 days of arrival

Terms and Conditions

Arrival and Departure:

Rooms will be ready at 3:00 PM for check in every day.  Check out is at 11:00 AM.  A late check out fee of $150 will be added to the guest's bill if departing the room later than 11:30 AM.

Key Policy:

Every Room will be left with 1 key.  Failure to return the keys, or losing the keys, will result in a $50 charge per key.


Storm Policy:

If the ferries are operating  guests are expected  to arrive as scheduled -- whether they planned to arrive by ferry or plane. If all ferries have been cancelled on a given day then a credit towards a future stay or a refund  ( less 15 % ) will be issued for that night's lodging at our discretion. Once ferry service resumes guests are expected to arrive for the balance of their reservation. Travel delays, missed connections, medical or any other travel issues will not merit credits or refunds. These potential unforeseen problems are best addressed with travel insurance, which we recommend.
