Property Information

The Paintrock Canyon Ranch was purchased by Ranchlands in 2020 and opened its gates to guests for the first time in 2023. Located 15 minutes from Hyattville, Wyoming, the Paintrock Canyon Ranch sprawls across 80,000 acres and many varying landscapes. Red sandstone cliffs rise above the meadows surrounding the ranch’s headquarters. At the bottom of the canyon is Paintrock Creek, widely known to be one of the best fisheries in the region for rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout. Wildlife is aplenty– bobcat, elk, mule and whitetail deer, pronghorn and bears all roam freely.

The ranch has 14 elegant, fully furnished safari-style tents tucked alongside the Paintrock Creek, providing accommodation for 5-night Ranch Vacations as well as a basecamp for Pack Trips. Ranch Vacations give guests the opportunity to see and learn about the ranch on horseback, while Pack Trips take intermediate or above riders into the backcountry of the Bighorn National Forest.

Getting to Paintrock Canyon Ranch (5332 County Road 49 ½, Hyattvile, WY 82428) : Most guests fly into Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody, WY (~1.5 hours west) and rent a car and drive to us. Some guests arrange a taxi service from the airport for their arrival and departure days.

Property and Cancelation Policies :

If a confirmed booking is canceled more than 30 days in advance of the arrival date, 50% of the deposit is refundable and 45% is retained as a credit, redeemable for a future stay within two years from scheduled arrival date. The remaining 5% is retained as an administrative fee. If a confirmed booking is canceled within 30 days of arrival date, 100% of the deposit is forfeited and is non-refundable nor creditable. If a new government-mandated travel ban that directly affects your itinerary is put into place between the time of booking and time of stay, your full deposit will remain on file as a credit for two years, less a 5% administrative fee. Travel insurance is recommended in order to protect yourself from unforeseen circumstances that may interfere with your stay, including inherent risks related to horseback riding.

All gratuity is optional but greatly appreciated and will be pooled to be shared across our team.
Please feel free to bring your own alcohol. The nearest liquor store is 45 minutes away so we encourage you to make a stop prior to arriving at the ranch.
Check in is from 3pm - 5pm, check out is at 10am. Do let us know if you will be arriving after 5pm as we will arrange for you to check in with our dining staff.
We cannot accommodate pets.
Access to the corrals or other areas on the ranch is limited to guests on a guided tour.
The minimum riding age for a Ranch Vacation is 16 years old and the minimum riding age for a Pack Trip at Paintrock Canyon Ranch is 21 years old.
We cannot accommodate riders heavier than 230 lbs.
Cell service is limited on the ranch and there is no wifi available. There is no cell service on Pack Trips once leaving the ranch, and guides will carry satellite phones for emergencies only,
Please note that Pack Trips are remote trips and you should be in good physical health with no pre-existing medical conditions.
