As a twenty bed, bespoke hostel and art gallery located in historic downtown Greenville, South Carolina, Modal serves as a hub for traveling artisans with a mixture of shared bunk style rooms and traditional private hotel accommodations. Our sweet spot is communal living and artistic osmosis for creative professionals, digital nomads, and couples looking for an adventure. Also, perfect for that weekend getaway or group retreats. Staying at Modal includes everything from complimentary parking, luxurious memory foam mattresses, and waterfall showers, to hi-speed wifi and a full residential style kitchen that opens up to a large outdoor deck. Get a glimpse of our diverse and inclusive southern hospitality as you grab a coffee or craft beer from our common area bar while relaxing in the company of locals and other guests. RESERVATIONS MADE DIRECT THROUGH STAYMODAL.COM ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING STRICT CANCELLATION POLICY
  • For Direct Bookings - Cancellations 7 days or more from the reservation check-in date, forfeit 25% of reservation as a cancellation fee. Including taxes and fees. This will be charged immediately after cancellation.
  • For Direct Bookings - Cancellations 6 days or less from the reservation check-in date, forfeit full amount of reservation (100% of reservation). Including taxes and fees.
  • No-shows (Not arriving within scheduled check-in period) will forfeit full amount of reservation (100% of reservation). Including taxes and fees.
  • Group Sales cancellation policies will be handled in individual group contract terms and conditions.
  • Due to COVID-19, cancellations will not be refunded in full for any extenuating circumstances. The above cancellation policy applies regardless.
  • Payment:
    • 100% collected immediately for direct bookings (including phone reservations). If booked through a third party OTA, payment is subject to process immediately or up to 3-5 business days.
  • Reservation Date Changes:
    • No Fee for date changes 7 days or more from the reservation check-in date. 
      • Subject to rate changes and availability.
    • Date changes 6 days or less from the reservation check-in date will be treated as a cancellation. See above terms.
Terms and Conditions


All guests are required to sign and acknowledge adherence to all terms & conditions as well as house rules upon arrival. Proof of identification (drivers license, passport, or government issued ID card), major credit card matching the booking name on file, and a signed copy of house rules form will be required from each traveler at check-in.

PLEASE READ CAREFULY PRIOR TO BOOKING
It is our highest priority and responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all of our guests. We appreciate the idea of generosity, but we do not allow non-guests to pay for the reservation of another guest due to the liability we assume (this includes family, friends, or philanthropic organizations). We have strict protocol to ensure a guest’s identity and confirm payment at check-in to further ensure the safety of our guests and property. Please carefully read these policies for further info:

  • All guest bookings must be paid for by credit card by the individual staying at Modal and the credit card on file for incidentals must match the ID of the person at check-in.
  • No person may pay for another guest unless both individuals are staying on-premise in the same room for the entire duration of the reservation.
  • All guest contact information must be accurate and relate only to the person staying and paying for the reservation including phone number, email, and address. 
This will be strictly enforced. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact the front desk prior to booking.

Guest Policies
  • All guest bookings must be paid for by credit card by the individual staying and the credit card on file for incidentals must match the ID of the person at check-in. No cash transactions for overnight lodging.
  • No person may pay for another guest unless both individuals are staying on premise for the entire duration of the reservation.
  • All guest contact information must be accurate and relate only to the person staying and paying for the reservation including phone number, email, and address.
  • No guest may reside for more than 7 days (consecutive or intermittent) within a 30-day period. Once 7 days have accrued, the guest must wait 30 days before making a return reservation.
  • No personal alcohol allowed on-site per State Law (including beer, wine, or liquor beverages)
  • No guests under the age of 16 allowed. Guests 16 or 17 years of age maybe accompanied by a legal guardian in private rooms only and a signed waiver will be required at check-in.
  • Guests booking individually must be 18 years or older to lodge in dorm rooms or private rooms. 
  • No pets or animals of any kind are allowed. If you legally require a service animal, please call prior to booking.
  • No smoking allowed, except in designated outdoor areas.
  • No drugs or illegal substances allowed on the premise. 
  • No firearms allowed on the premise.
  • No personal sleeping bags, blankets, or pillows allowed. 
  • No food or drink in guest rooms. All eating should be in the kitchen or common areas.
  • No non-registered guests allowed in guest rooms (shared or private). 
  • Please keep all personal belongings inside your private room or secure locker at all time. All dorm rooms should be clear of belongings on the floor or surrounding area to ensure fire exit safety. Modal is not liable for lost, stolen, or broken items.     
  • No sexual advancements, harassment, or public indecency will be tolerated in the common areas or shared dorm rooms. Report any suspicious or lude behavior to staff immediately.·       
  • No music should be played in any guest room or common area without headphones.·       
  • Theft will result in immediate request to vacate the premise and permanent denial for future bookings.·       
  • Be kind - rude, belligerent, unruly, inconsiderate, or hostile guests will be asked to vacate the premises.
