Situated in the heart of downtown Oakland’s historic district, this East Bay hotel offers elegance and convenience. Listed on the City of Oakland Register of Historic Sites, our Inn maintains an old world charm while updating the amenities for modern comfort.
A paradise retreat for art lovers, the landmark building features renovated and vibrant Art Deco reliefs, boasting of elaborate metalwork, paneling, and artisanal fixtures created by local artists and craftsmen, with an aesthetic that honors the building’s legacy. Surrounding the Inn are a diverse range of highly-acclaimed, award-winning restaurants to select from, all within walking distance. Likewise, we are at a hub of public transportation access, including a BART station that is a four-minute walk from the Inn and AC Transit just a seven-minute walk away.
Built in the 1900s, our Inn is also iconic of Asian American history. When the Chinese first immigrated to Oakland in the 1850s, they settled along what is present day Webster Street, expanding from the corner of Webster and 8th, less than a five-minute walk from the Inn. In the early 1900s when the San Francisco Bay Area issued policy bans segregating Japanese immigrants, many integrated with the Chinese in Oakland Chinatown. As a result, a syncretic culture between the Chinese and Japanese thrived in the historic district from the 1900s to the 1940s. Our Inn puts you at the center of that legacy.
Modern luxury, local charm, and contemporary hospitality converge at Trending Inn to provide you with an unforgettable experience and deepened appreciation for California’s days of yore.
