The Flamingo Motel has been around for over five decades (since 1954), offering interesting furnishings and quality linens that decorate each of our theme rooms. At the time it was built, all the best materials were used, and it was quite "the place to stay" according to those that remember "way back when." The Spanish tile roof was unique in the area but has proven it can withstand the winter snows and keep the single story motel very comfortable in the summer. You may never need to turn on the air conditioning but its there just in case. Each room has a name: for instance, there is The Victorian, a room very popular with newlyweds and for anniversaries. Then several garden themed rooms: the Tuscan, the English and the Cottage Garden that are all very cozy and inviting. For the sportsman, there's the Cowboy Room, Gone Fishing, the Lighthouse, a Golfer's Paradise, and the patriotic "red, white & blue" Americana. The Flamingo Motel also has a two bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, "Route 66," and another two bedroom suite, "Cabin Fever," both for the guest with a family or for two couples. Many people think that because it's 50s, it's just an old, uncomfortable building, but that's definitely not the case! In 2007, we completed the total renovation of all of our rooms. They are as immaculate and as comfortable as your own home. We give our staff the time to clean, and our housekeepers take immense pride in the result. When they need an hour to "perfect" a room, they have it! We added free wireless internet for our customers' personal convenience. Along with the hair dryers, coffee makers, refrigerators, cable TV, and free local calling, our guests feel right at home. There's even a microwave for reheating "take homes," a bagel toaster, and an ice machine. A paperback "library" is stocked with spy and mystery novels in our common area. The policy is "leave yours, take ours." Park your car, bike, or motorcycle right in front of your room. Settle in the chairs just outside and enjoy the parades along Sherman Avenue passing right out front . You're in the "heart of things" with the monthly Art Walks, Music Walks & Farmer's Markets, Classic Car Shows, the Ironman Triathlon (swim, cycle & marathon run on the Centennial Trail), Park Concerts, and Street Fairs going along Sherman Avenue down to the Lake in "Olde Towne Coeur d'Alene."
