We are located in the heart of Norway’s Lofoten Islands, nestled in between the trees on the shores of Lake Steira.
We love to bring like-minded travelers together and create a space where you can fully experience all the outdoor adventures.


At FURU you will find minimalistic and stylish dorms, private rooms and apartments.
Our interior is inspired by the beautiful nature around us and each room has its own unique design with views over our lake and mountains surrounding us. 
Our own Café serves seasonal, locally-sourced vegetarian and pescatarian dishes which will fuel you up for all the adventures ahead.

Short Term Stays (Up to 20 Nights)
For stays that are 20 nights or less, you can cancel or modify your reservation free of charge up to 7 days before your scheduled check-in date. Cancellations or modifications made less than 7 days before check-in will be charged the full amount of the booking.

Long Term Stays (21+ Nights)
Our policy for long term stays allows us to secure a dedicated space for you and/or your group and limits the impact of last-minute cancellations.Cancellations and modifications may result in charges depending on when the cancellation or modification is made:
  • Up to 8 weeks before your scheduled check-in date: You can cancel or modify your booking free of charge.
  • Up to 4 weeks before check-in: 50% of the total amount will be charged.
  • Up to 1 week before check-in: 75% of the total amount will be charged.
  • Less than 7 days before check-in: The full amount of the booking will be charged.
In order to provide a reliable and consistent experience for guests, our cancellation policy is firm and we cannot make exceptions. We highly encourage guests to book flexible flight tickets and obtain good travel insurance to cover unexpected events.

Modifications
We understand that changes to your travel plans may be necessary, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please note that any modification to your reservation is subject to availability and may result in a rate change. If you wish to modify your reservation, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to assist you.
Terms and Conditions

FURU Hostel is operated by FJELLJO AS. Here on after will we refer solely to FURU Hostel, however FJELLJO AS is the legal entity.

IDENTIFICATION
Please make sure to bring a valid photo identification with you, preferably a passport, government issued I.D. card or driving license. You may need this to check in.

AGE RESTRICTIONS
We cannot accept bookings from any person under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult (18 or over).

Guests who wish to bring their children under the age of 18, must book a whole dorm, private room or apartment.

Guests aged under 18 can stay in a dorm without an adult present, but we require the consent of their parent or legal guardian. To confirm their permission, the parent or guardian must fill out and sign our consent form, and provide a copy of their passport via email. To receive the consent form, please email us at islandlife@furuhostel.com.


Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the reservation without a refund if guests with children under the age of 18 do not book a whole dorm or if we do not receive the signed consent form for guests aged 18 and a copy of the parent's or guardian's passport.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
Check-in is from 16:00 to 22:00. If you arrive before 16:00, we can check if there is a room already available for check-in.
If we cannot provide you with a room before 16:00 you are welcome to leave your luggage in our storage room while exploring the islands.
If you do not arrive within the reception hours, please let us know in advance so we can arrange a late arrival for you. 
Check-out is until 11:00. Please make sure you (and your belongings) are out of the room by then. After Check-Out you are welcome to keep your luggage at our storage for the rest of the day.
We are happy to store your luggage overnight if you are heading out for a camping trip and come back to stay at FURU Hostel afterwards.
If you would like to sleep in longer or just want some extra time before leaving the room, we offer a late Check-Out. 
Late check-out is until 14:00 and must be agreed with FURU Hostel prior to the check-out time. We reserve the right to charge the late Check-Out fee in case you check out later than 11:00.
If you booked a late Check-Out and miss the check-out at 14:00 we reserve the right to charge you for another night as you departure will be interfering with the arrival of new guests.
FURU Hostel also reserves the right to remove your belongings from the rooms to the storage by 14:00 and charge the late Check-Out fee if you fail to check-out by 11:00 on the agreed date of departure.
We do not accept liability for any loss of or damage to these items whatsoever.

ROOM ALLOCATION
We allocate dorm reservations randomly based on availability and cannot guarantee placement in a 4 or 6 bed dorm.

If you’re travelling with friends or family, we will do our best to allocate you in a dorm room together – but this can’t be guaranteed. Please make sure to let us know during the booking process if you are traveling in a group and want to share a dorm. If you want to make sure that you are not separated from your group, we recommend booking a private room, apartment or all beds in a dorm.

We do not assign dorm beds. We will do our best to accommodate requests for top or bottom bunks, however we cannot guarantee it.

Please note that all our dorms are mixed unless you are booking a female-only dorm.

GROUP RESERVATIONS
For group reservations that exceed 6 persons, please contact us directly at islandlife@furuhostel.com.
We reserve the right to cancel your reservation if you haven’t pre-arranged your group booking with us.
Members of the group are required to check-in and check-out together. If this is somehow not possible please inform us in advance.
Depending of the chosen room type we may not be able to accommodate the whole group on the same floor but we will do our best to locate the members of the group as close together as possible.
The earlier you book the stay the higher are the chances to allocate all guests close to each other.
If you come in a group over 12 persons, we require the following information at least 1 week before arrival of the group:
List of all guests (Full names)
Allocation of guests to the rooms (if you have special requirements)
Name and contact details of the group leader and contact person
Number and names of all under 18- year-olds  
Allergies or other essential information for our kitchen team

We do not host large groups in the same dorms as single travelers, hence the group will pay for the full occupancy of a room. 

PRE-AUTHORIZATION
It is not general practice but under certain circumstances FURU Hostel will require a pre-authorization of a credit card. We will inform you prior if a 
pre-authorization is needed.
The pre-authorization is used to cover incidental items including (but not limited to) breaches of terms and conditions, breakages, damages to the property
or cleaning above the normal level due to the apartment being left in an unacceptable state of cleanliness.
The deposit will be released at the time of check-out, when the rooms have been checked and are in good condition.
Please be advised that the time it takes to release the deposit depends on the guest’s bank.


PAYMENT
If no other agreements have been made, we will charge the full payment during your booking process of the room(s). Other terms and conditions may apply if a reservation has been made via third party sites.
The Payment can be made by credit card or prepayment by bank transfer. Cash is only accepted for walk-in bookings. You will be responsible for all unsettled bills and all extra services are to be paid when ordered.
We accept the following card types: Norwegian Debit card, Visa, Mastercard, American Express. If we are unable to charge your credit card, your reservation or order may be cancelled.

Currency
All prices at FURU Hostel are in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Please note that your bank or credit card issuer may charge foreign transaction fees and currency conversion rates if you are paying with a non-Norwegian credit card or from a foreign bank account. FURU Hostel is not responsible for any such fees or rates, and any such charges will be your responsibility.In the event that a refund is issued, please note that the currency exchange rate may be different from when you were originally charged, and may result in a difference between the total amount charged and the amount refunded. We are not responsible for any such differences in the exchange rate or additional foreign transaction fees imposed by your bank or credit card issuer. Any such differences or additional fees will be the responsibility of the guest.

Long Term Stays (21+ Nights)
Deposits
We require a deposit for long-term stays to ensure that our guests are committed to their reservation and to help us mitigate the risks associated with cancellations and changes to reservations. Our deposit policies are as follows:
  1. A deposit of 50% of the total amount is required to confirm the reservation.
  2. The deposit will be charged to the credit card on file for the reservation within 7 days of the booking confirmation.
  3. If the credit card is declined or otherwise fails, the guest must provide a different form of payment. If payment isn’t made within 7 days of the booking confirmation, it may result in the reservation being cancelled.
  4. The remaining balance will be paid in full on or before the day of check-in.
VAN DOCKING
Our hostel offers a limited number of van docking spaces for guests who would like to stay overnight in a campervan or small motorhome or caravan. To ensure that we can provide a comfortable and convenient experience for all of our guests, we have the following policies in place:
  • Our nightly van docking rate includes 2 people, and access to electricity, FURU’s facilities, common areas, and showers.
  • The price for additional guests is +50kr per person per night.
  • You must provide your license plate number when booking.
  • Your van, motorhome, or caravan must comfortably fit within our van docking space. We reserve the right to cancel the booking if we deem the van, motorhome, or caravan too big for the space provided.
  • If you come with a caravan, your car must be parked in the main parking lot.
Our van docking spaces can fit standard-sized vans and small motorhomes or caravans. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate tiny homes and larger motorhomes or caravans. If you’re unsure whether your camper will fit, or have any questions about our van docking policies, send us an email at islandlife@furuhostel.com and we’ll be happy to help.

COWORKING LOFT
FURU Hostel offers a coworking space for guests who need a comfortable and productive environment to work or study. Desks in our Coworking Loft are subject to availability and must be booked in advance.
  • Desks can be booked for a minimum of 1 week.
  • Guests that book a space in our Coworking Loft are assigned a desk for the entire duration of their booking.
  • The price of desk bookings are 350kr per week, or 1200kr per month (28 days).
  • Our cancellation, modification, and payment policies also apply to desk bookings.

Coworking Loft Usage Policy
When using the Coworking Loft, we ask that guests follow some basic guidelines to ensure that the space is comfortable and productive for everyone. These guidelines include, but are not limited to:
  • Only use the desk that is assigned to you. Do not use another guest’s desk or equipment without their permission.
  • Be mindful of noise levels and avoid disturbing other guests while they work.
  • Clean up after yourself and keep your workspace tidy.
  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. FURU Hostel is not responsible for any personal belongings that are lost, stolen, or damaged.
  • The guest is responsible for any damage caused to FURU Hostel’s equipment as a result of negligent behavior or misuse on the part of the guest. If equipment is damaged in this way, the guest may be asked to pay for the damages and/or to replace the equipment.
FURU Hostel upholds the right to cancel a desk booking if the guest is found to be in violation of our policies or guidelines. A refund will not be issued for the booking.

GUEST BEHAVIOR 
Sub-letting of beds is prohibited. The beds are only to be used for the purpose of agreed accommodation. FURU Hostel does not allow parties in the rooms.
FURU Hostel reserves the right to remove guests that creates nuisance or that do not follow the instructions. FURU Hostel reserves the right to enter rooms if there is a need for it during the tenancy. 
The comfort, safety and security of our guests is important to us. We reserve the right to refuse any guest(s) who, in the opinion of the owners or daily manager, compromise the comfort, safety or security of other guests, staff or residents.
They will be asked to leave the hostel premises and will not be given a refund. Our guests are expected to respect other guests as well as staff, residents and the property.

LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE
Our guests will be expected to reimburse FURU Hostel for any damages caused by inappropriate behavior during their stay. You shall be responsible for any damage caused to FURU Hostel as a result of negligent or willful behavior. 
Our guests shall be responsible for preventing fire, especially by ensuring that the panel heaters are not covered. Any negligence resulting in fire or an emergency call-out by the Fire and Rescue Service will be charged in accordance with the cost of any such call-outs.
Please read the FURU Hostel’s fire instructions, which are placed in every room.
If any keys/keycards from FURU hostel are lost/damaged by the guests, we reserve the right to charge NOK 200 to replace the item. 


NO SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the buildings. 
Any guest smoking inside the building will be fined with NOK 2000 and will be asked to leave the premises. A refund will not be issued for the stay.

NO DRUGS
Any guest found using drugs will be fined with NOK 2000 and will be asked to leave the premises. A refund will not be issued for the stay.


ALCOHOL AND FOOD CONSUMPTION
We will not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. 
Guests cannot drink their own alcohol on the premises. This is against Norwegian laws and FURU Hostel could lose its license over such negligence.
Therefore, we have to keep a strict rule over this. The guest 
will be asked to leave the premises with a fine of NOK 2000.  A refund will not be issued for the stay. 
The same accounts for food consumption.We cannot allow you to cook your own food inside the building due to fire hazard and we will fine the guest with NOK 2000. 

LINEN
Bed linen are provided for all dormitories and rooms. We do not allow guests to use sleeping bags or their own linen.
Our guests will be held accountable and need to reimburse FURU Hostel for any damages caused by using their own bedding or sleeping bags.

PET POLICIES
We love having dogs around at FURU, and as such, we offer dog-friendly rooms subject to availability. To help make sure all of our guests have a nice and comfortable stay, we have the following policies in place:
  • Our dog-friendly private rooms and apartments are subject to availability and must be requested in advance via email in order to confirm availability. Failure to notify us in advance may result in the cancellation of your booking.
  • We charge a dog fee of 160kr per week that is due on the scheduled check-in date. Weeks are calculated as follows: 1-7 nights is 1 week (160kr), 8-14 nights is 2 weeks (320kr), 15-21 nights is 3 weeks (480kr), and so on.
  • Pets are not allowed in certain areas of the hostel, including but not limited to:
    • All common areas & shared bathrooms
    • FURU Café
    • Dorm Rooms (unless you book the entire dorm for your whole stay)
    • 3rd Floor of the main building
  • Dogs must be kept on a leash anywhere outside the room.
  • Guests must always clean up after their dog.
  • FURU Hostel is not responsible for any injury, damage, loss or accident inflicted on any person or thing caused by the dog.
  • The guest is responsible for any damage caused to FURU Hostel as a result of negligent or willful behavior on the part of the guest or their dog.
Any guest found to be in violation of our pet policies will be subject to a fine of up to 2000kr and may be asked to leave the premises immediately. A refund will not be issued for the stay.

We offer dog-free rooms as well for guests with severe allergies. These rooms are also subject to availability and need to be requested in advance.

PERSONAL PROPERTY
Each dormitory has a personal locker for small valuables which we recommend you to use. All rooms can be locked with your personal code.
It is your responsibility to ensure that personal belongings are secured at all times.
FURU Hostel accepts no liability for the loss, theft or damage to your property, however sustained or caused, unless such is caused by intent or gross negligence on the part of FURU Hostel.
We encourage all guests to carry travel/home contents insurance in the unlikely events of such incidents.

COMPLAINTS
Any complaints made by guests or the person making the booking shall be submitted to FURU Hostel in writing as soon as possible and no later than the day of departure.

OVERBOOKING
In the unlikely event of overbooking, we shall undertake to provide similar services within FURU or another company within reasonable proximity of the Hostel. 

FORCE MAJEURE
In the event of Force Majeure (governmental action, transportation interruption, terrorist attack, acts of God…) affecting your booking, we uphold the right to cancel your booking.
In an unlikely event that we are unable to refund customers, we reserve the right to further collect any outstanding payments in connection to your confirmed booking.
We therefore encourage all guests to carry travel insurance in the unlikely events of such incidents. We will always work hard in finding a solution that satisfies our customers.


LIABILITY
FURU Hostel acts as an agent only for the offered activities or rentals. Thus FURU Hostel is not responsible for any injury,damage, loss or accident inflicted on any person
or thing (including financial damage) caused by negligence or with intent from any such operator.


PRIVACY POLICY
We ask for personal information in the booking request section. This information is necessary to ensure that we are able to make and confirm your booking.
This information will not be used for any other purposes,and will not be shared with any other outside parties except for necessary information given to the parties involved in your booking (Activity providers etc.).
The personal information will not be sold or shared, and your email address will not be forwarded to outside parties. FURU Hostel complies with its obligations under the
General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union(hereinafter: GDPR). We will process personal data (as defined in the Act) in relation to Customers and Guests solely
for the purpose of performing its obligations and exercising its rights in connection with the contract.


ERRORS AND OMISSIONS
Any omission or error in sales literature, websites, order form, quotation, price list, order acknowledgement, notes, invoice or other documents issued by us may be corrected by us without liability.
We will advise you of any changes at the time of booking or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter.

DISCRETION
All bookings are subject to availability and FURU Hostel reserves the right to decline any booking at its discretion.
