It is not known for certain, as the life of Tin Hinan dances between history and legend, but according to orally transmitted stories, but it is said that, witnessing turbulent times, the princess left the oasis of Tafilalelt (south of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains) with her maid Takamat and her faithful servants for a long journey across the Sahara Desert. The journey ended in the Ahaggar Mountains, where it is said that, with his great charisma, she managed to unify the various clans of lords, shepherds and farmers and give them a new and common identity, using the method of facing, united, a real threat: the Arab invasion. She was considered the goddess of prosperity, fertility, love, and the moon. Here, it is interesting to notice how female goddess had a balanced presence in the religious conception of the ancient people in North Africa. Tanit is evident in Amazigh culture and legends through antiques, statues, amulets, monuments, mosaics, as well as Amazigh ornaments. The famous symbol that refers to Tanit is a triangle (sometimes trapezoid) topped with a circle separating the two forms with a horizontal line. For writer and poet Mohamed Nadir Sebaa, she is a legendary and mythical figure. The myth dates back to the 16th century, to the time of the Ottomans. Both legend and historical account revolve around this character, making it sometimes difficult to separate reality from myth. According to legend, she was a high priestess, Sufi saint, healer and warrior leader; Fatma Tazuggaght is said to be descended from the noble general Imouren, who served under Tariq u Ziyad during the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula by the Umayyad armies. According to the legend, she unified the Berber tribes, even those that had been Arabised, traded with several other regions and set up a council of wise men represented exclusively by women.
