Gibson’s Inn Feels Like Home!

Gibson’s Inn is located footsteps away from the City Dock and the US Naval Academy. Gibson’s is the ideal destination for history, relaxation, shopping, dining, and old-fashioned hospitality in downtown Annapolis. Gibson’s Inn has three grand houses all named after past and present owners of the property. The Patterson House, the Berman House, and the Lauer House are all spacious and historically decorated with an array of vintage and modern décor. The property hosts 20 fully-furnished guest rooms, and each house has a beautifully decorated 19th-century parlor and a dining area for entertaining and relaxation. Outside, the three houses share a large brick courtyard where guests are welcome to enjoy peace and tranquility. Gibson’s guests who book direct with us have the benefit of a private parking lot. 

In 1681, the Annapolis property, now known as Gibson’s Inn of Annapolis was assigned to the First Naval Officer of the Port of Annapolis, Richard Hill. The original structure, referred to in 1691 as “The Old Courthouse” burned to the ground. The existing Patterson House with 18th Century Georgian-style home was erected by Richard MacCubbin between 1760 and 1786. It was completely refurbished in 1905. The facade of the “Patterson House” reflects the Victorian influence on Annapolis architecture. The Berman House was built in 1892 as a single residence but later purchased and restored by Cary and Aryol Ann Gibson, who also owned and refurbished the Patterson House years prior. In late 1980, the Lauer House, built by Lauer Construction, became the third edition to houses at Gibson’s Inn of Annapolis. 

The Patterson House is where our Main Office is located. Our personable guest relation staff are always on hand to assist you during your stay. This house now features four guest rooms that range from quaint queen suite, a lovely queen jacuzzi room, an elegant king room, and a luxurious king suite. The Patterson House also has two dining rooms and a spacious parlor for relaxing or entertaining family and friends.

The Berman House, built in the 1890’s, features nine guest rooms including seven charming kings and three inviting queen rooms. The three ground floor rooms are pet-friendly and one of the queen rooms is handicap-accessible with a private outside entrance. There is a Parlor located on the ground floor of the Berman House for guests to family gatherings and entertaining.

In 1988, our Lauer House was built. The Lauer House features the largest guest rooms, hosting five king suites and a double queen deluxe suite. The first floor features a large parlor for guest enjoyment. Gibson’s welcomes large groups for Conferences, Conventions, Retreats Reunions & Weddings. The Lauer House parlor can be reserved for group bookings.

Gibson’s Inn of Annapolis offers a delicious continental breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. but be sure to also indulge in any of our locally-owned restaurants and shops such as Rise Up Coffee and Naval Bagels during your stay. All guest rooms feature free Wi-Fi as well as complimentary water, coffee, snacks, and treats. Be sure to check out the Board Room in the Patterson House, the common rooms at the Berman house, and Lauer House for complimentary beverages.

There are a number of special event weekends that require a 2-night minimum stay. Special event weeks are also listed and have a 3-night minimum stay.  Payment in-full is due at the time of booking. Reservations made during these times are non-refundable. The special events dates included are U.S Sailboat Shows April 28-30,2023, October 12-16,2023, October 10-14,2024, October 9-13,2025 and U.S Powerboat Shows October 5-8,2023, October 3-6,2024, October 2-4,2025; Induction week June 28th-June 30th; Commissioning Week May 21-28,2023; USNA Parents Week; USNA Football Home Games.
