Swanendele Inn is an elegant, family-owned country inn nestled on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay and St. Jerome’s Creek. Swanendele Inn was constructed in traditional Southern Maryland style, with wraparound porches, multiple decks, and waterfront views from every window. Notwithstanding the “times gone by” charm of the inn, Swanendele features the latest in water and energy-saving features, such as geo-thermal heating and AC, triple-pane windows, and energy-star appliances. A modern, electric ELEVATOR provideds easy access to all three levels of the Inn. The suites and every room afford natural stone, thermostat-controlled fireplaces, ceiling fans, white oak floors, and marble/granite baths. The Margaret Brent and Lord Calvert Suites offer jacuzzi tubs for two with a divine view of the water and sunset – each with built-in champagne coolers. The house is tastefully furnished with the owners eclectic collection of artwork and antiques gathered from all over the world.

Cancellation of Single or Multiple Room Reservations
If you made your reservation directly with Swanendele Inn, please contact the Inn to modify or cancel the reservation(s).
If you made your reservation through an online travel agent (OTA), Swanendele Inn cannot assist, and you must cancel the reservation directly with such travel agent and their cancellation policy will apply.
We understand and appreciate the uncertainty of human health and circumstances. In view of the small size of Swanendele Inn, the cancellation of a reservation and related costs have a profound effect onus. Therefore, should you cancel a reservation made directly with Swanendele Inn, the cancellation will be dealt with in accordance with the following regulations:
a)  A$50.00 administration fee of deposit retained for each room canceled after the deposit is processed by credit card agency and 14 days or more prior to the programmed check in date.  
b)   We will retain the First Night Deposit only - if canceled less than 14 days but 3 days (72 hours) or more prior to the programmed check in date.  
c)   Full Charge for Full Stay - If canceled within 3 days (72 hours) of the programmed check in date we will not refund any of your deposit and you will be charged you for the remaining balance of the reservation.  
d)   In the case of b) or c) above, Swanendele Inn will offer you a “Gift Certificate” for your personal use or written designate, for the total amount paid. The Gift Certificate will have a one-year expiration date from its date of issue. See Gift Certificate conditions below.

NOTE: Option d) above is ONLY available for reservations made directly with Swanendele Inn and not through any intermediary or travel agency (OTA).

All Other Events and related Reservations

This includes elopements, weddings, celebrations, seminars, retreats, and corporate events shall be subject to the terms of the Event Agreement with Swanendele Inn. In default of such signed agreement, cancellations or modifications shall be governed by the same terms and conditions as non-event reservations as provided herein.

Terms and Conditions

Guests
Swanendele Inn is designed for adults and to the nature of the furnishings and artwork as well as our clientele’s preference for peaceful, romantic, serene, and quiet surroundings. However,well-supervised and behaved children are welcome. Children under 4 years of agemay sleep with their parents at no additional cost. All other guests, ofwhatever age, must have an additional bed at extra costs and will receive theincluded breakfast. Maximum room occupancy limits apply, regardless of the ageof guests.

Room Rates
Swanendele Inn's room rates are based on one or two persons staying in any guest suite or room and are priced the same for single or double occupancy. There is an additional charge of $100 per day or portion thereof for a third or any additional person(s) staying in a room. Our rates include a full, multi-course hot breakfast cooked to-order each morning. Applicable  Maryland sales and Accomodation  taxes are not included in the rates. Weekend and holiday rates may be higher than weekday rates. We also may require a minimum stay of two or more nights on some weekends and holidays. Our rates are subject to change at any time. Please check the availability calendar and book on our website for the lowest room rates on specific dates.

Specials, Promotions, Discounts, etc.
Swanendele Inn occasionaly offers guests a special, promotion, discount or other arrangement affecting our room rates or any related good or service provided by or through Swanendele Inn, the arrangement (a) is available only if the guest makes a reservation directly with Swanendele Inn and is not available if the reservation is made through an individual or online travel agent; (b) applies only to new (and not cancelled or remade) reservations made after Swanendele Inn's publication of the arrangement; (c) may not be combined with any other special, promotion,discount or arrangement offered by Swanendele Inn; (d) may be discontinued by Swanendele Inn at any time and for any reason, but without affecting any reservation already made before the discontinuance of the arrangement; and (e) is subject to any blackout dates and other restrictions and all other terms and conditions established by Swanendele Inn.

Alcoholic Beverages
Swanendele Inn is Licensed by the state of Maryland and St. Mary’s County to sell and provide alcoholic beverages in strict compliance with all laws, regulations, and practices. Guests may consume alcoholic beverages broughtin SOLELY inside the room or suite rented. Guests may not bring such beverages to any area outside of their suite or room. No alcohol, brought on the premises or purchased from Swanendele Inn may be brought or consumed any hwer outside, in the gardens, the firepit, the pier or in the parking areas. Swanendele offers alcoholic beverages for sale to properly verified and qualified adults only.  


Gift Certificates and Cards
Please let us know when you make your reservationif you will be using a Swanendele Inn or Select Registry issued or accepted third-party gift certificate or gift card to pay for all or part of the cost of your stay. Please also be sure to read and understand the restrictions, if any,on your gift certificate or card (including any expiration date) to be sure that it can be redeemed for your stay. Gift certificates and cards may not be redeemed if the original (s) are not presented to us on arrival for your stay.

Deposit and Balance Payments
At the time of reservation, we will charge a deposit equal to the cost of a one-night stay or 50 percent of the cost of a multiple-night stay, including applicable taxes. Any balance owed for room costs will be charged following check-in and any other cost of the stay is to be paid prior to check-out. For payment of a deposit, we accept VisaMaster CardAmericanExpress, and Discover credit cards. For payment of anybalance owed, we again accept VisaMaster CardAmericanExpress, and Discover credit cards, cash,and verified check or Swanendele Inn or Select Registry issuedand approved third-party gift certificates and cards.

Reschedule the stay: 
 THIS IS A GUEST FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE  INSTEAD OF CANCELING – Should you wish to modify your reservation by rescheduling, we will try our best to accommodate your desired change.
If you made your reservation through an online travelagent (OTA), Swanendele Inn cannot assist, and you must contact the travel agent directly to modify the reservation or request a refund.   The following rules apply to reschedule your stay at Swanendele Inn:

(a) the stay may be rescheduled, subject to room availability, at the then applicable room rates and the discretion of  Swanendele Inn.
(b) your rescheduled stay must begin within one year after the start date of the original reservation, and
(c) the deposit charged for the original stay will not be refunded to you, but instead will be held by us and applied to your rescheduled stay and must be supplemented if your rescheduled stay costs more than the original stay.

Modification of Reservations
If you wish to modify your reservation, the modification will be handled inone of the following ways: Shorten the stay: If you wish to shorten your stay at the Swanendele Inn, it will be treated as a partial cancellation of your reservation in accordance with our "Cancellation of Reservation"policy.

Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on the day of arrival and check-out is  at or before 11:00 AM on the day of departure. You must make special arrangements with Swanendele Inn if your desired check-in or check-out time will be outside of these timeframes.  Any "overstaying" beyond 11:30 am,  without prior agreement will automatically result in an additional amount equal to half the applicable daily rate being charged and collected.

Pets
We do not allow pets of any kind or species. Only dogs recognized as service animals certified under titles II and III of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) will be admitted. Original Certificates must be presented before or at check-in. We reserve the right to limit such stays to designated ADA rooms.   The guest willbe responsible for an additional $100 minimum cleaning charge, and, inaddition, any damage caused by the occupant and/or the service dog. The guest will be charged a fee to repair, restore, or replace the damaged room flooring, furnishings, property, or opportunity to rent the room or suite in an amount not less than $200 to be determined and charged in good faith by Swanendele Inn in its sole and absolute discretion. We are happy to assist you with finding a nearby boarding facility for your pet(s).

Smoking, Vaping, Flame Free, etc.
We are committed to providing our guests with as moke-free and flame-free environment. Smoking, vaping, burning candles, incense,or any other open fire startes by a guest, are not allowed anywhere at the Swanendele Inn, except that smoking or vaping may occur in the area near the pier where a vertical ashtray has been installed. If a guest or his or her invitee does not comply with this policy, the guest will automatically be charged a room-recovery fee of not less than $300 per room and $400 per Suite to restore each affected room or suite to a smoke-free condition.

Violence and Weapons
We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive and secure environment at Swanendele Inn. Violent acts and threats of violence at Swanendele Inn are prohibited. Firearms and other weapons are not allowed at Swanendele Inn except to the extent expressly authorized by applicable law.

Damage
If a guest or his or her invitee damages any room or other property of Swanendele Inn (other than by smoking or vaping, whichwill be handled according to our "smoking" policy), the guest will be charged a fee to repair, restore, or replace the damaged room, flooring,  furnishings, property  or opportunity to rent the room or suite in an amount not less than $200 to be determined and charged in good faith by Swanendele Inn in its sole and absolute discretion. Clients are alerted that food, take-outs,wine - especially red wine - coffee, tea, hair dyes and oils, and other stains,are the most common causes of damage.  Accidents happen; minimize the damage by informing the Innkeeper immediately.   

Beach, Sports, and Waterfront – Enjoy at your risk
Using the waterfront, pier, beach, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and other activities all come with the inherent risk of injuries to persons and property.  Although not provided, Swanendele Inn recommends that all guests wear water shoes to protect against shells and other sharp objects on the grounds or bottom.  Although not provided,except when renting Swanendele equipment, guests understand that the use of lifejackets and other safety equipment, is essential but does not remove all risk of injury. The guest must determine the sufficiency of any safety gear orother precautions that the guests decide to take to minimize the risk of theactivity. No party related to Swanendele Inn, LLC, including innkeepers or employees, may make any representations regarding the safety, or risk of, the activity. Guests expressly assume the risk of the activity and release Swanendele Inn, LLC, its owners and employees from any loss, expense, or cost,including attorney fees arising out of any damages or injuries, whether topersons or property, occurring because of the use of the waterfront, beach, sports,or equipment. The guest assumes responsibility and liability for all persons invited on to the property using the waterfront, beach, and sports during the period of their stay. 

Conflicts and Jurisdictions
The parties irrevocably agree that any conflict arising between them shall be amicably resolved or if needed, litigated solely in and under the jurisdiction, laws and regulations of St. Mary's County and the State of Maryland, USA.

Acceptance of Policies; Exceptions to Policies
The making of a reservation constitutes the acceptance of all  policies by each guest covered by the reservation, regardless of whether the guest made the reservation or is companying the guest who made the reservation or anyone else on his or her behest. We reserve the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, to explicitly make exceptions to our policies at any time and for any reason.
