Property Information

Welcome Valley Village is located on Welcome Valley Road near the small town of Benton, TN. The Village itself comprises 17 beautiful & lush acres, predominantly wooded, with 900+ feet of River frontage on the Ocoee itself. The forest has all the personality of nearby Cherokee National Forest since it borders the Ocoee, with white pines, original hardwoods, mountain laurel and Canadian hemlocks. Therefore, the area surrounding Benton, TN is densely packed with incredible natural beauty and limitless points of interest. The close proximity of the Cherokee National Forest’s public parks, rivers, trails, gives access to waterfalls and even the stunning Parkville Lake just a few miles away The Village is tucked away in a corner of this very wilderness, offering its guests an escape into the natural world.

Currently there are five cabins on the property, ranging from 600-1,000 sq. ft in size and one large four bedroom cabin perched high upon a hill over the river. Four of the cabins sleep 4-8 people while one larger cabin can house up to 9 People and the four bedroom cabin can happily hos 12.  While all of the cabins are comfortable and have an almost elfish charm, three of them have a remarkable river view. All cabins have private outdoor fire pits and two of them have wood-fired, wood constructed hot tubs.

While the cabins themselves are full of charm and comfortability, guests of The Village have access to a multitude of beautifully landscaped common areas. Directly over the river is a large riverside dock, riverside pavilion, and small bathhouse with toilets. The dock and riverside pavilion are both very popular with guests, as they offer a serene open-air environment, tucked away in the forest, where guests can relax, drop-in tubes, swim, fish, etc. The riverside pavilion is consistently rented out for private events like weddings.

Welcome Valley is nestled at the gateway of the Great Smoky Mountains, so the area boasts the outdoor wonders of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, but is perfectly accessible to people in nearby cities like Chattanooga, Atlanta, Knoxville, etc. By being located in Benton, TN, the Woodlands is bordered on all sides by state parks and lakes, yet it encompasses prime real estate, right alongside the area’s most illustrious attraction, the Ocoee river.

The Cherokee National Forest, where Benton is specifically located, is made up of a concentration of state parks and lakes. Parks and lakes will always attract tourists of all ages, but the Ocoee river offers something truly special. The Ocoee is known far & wide for its 3 mile stretch of world class rapids, partly because of the international attention it received during the 1996 Olympic Canoe and Kayak competition. Outdoor enthusiasts, families, and various groups flock to the Ocoee every year to traverse its class 2-4 rapids. There are only four destinations for white rafting in the Southeast and the next closest is in Western North Carolina, which is another 1.5 hours down the windy roads of Hwy 74. The immensity of the Ocoee river as a local and regional attraction is evidenced by the sheer concentration of rafting companies located off Hwy 74. The nearby Hiwassee is a milder mountain river, perfect for younger adventurers who are not yet ready to graduate to the Ocoee, and again, just up the road is the popular Nantahala river for more leisure paced rafters.

Visitors who are not compelled by whitewater come to the Benton area to hike, fly fish, tube, mountain bike, horseback ride, zipline, take long scenic drives, and so much more. All the more, Chattanooga is only 47 miles away and is highly acclaimed for its collection of tourist attractions including the Tennessee Aquarium, Hunter Art Museum, Creative Discovery Museum, etc. Shopping, dining, museums, outdoor recreation, and live music can all be found in Chattanooga. Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga’s most popular destination, boasts some of the region’s most sought after tourist attractions, including Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline. Lookout Mountain’s attractions bring in over half a million visitors a year. But as with practically any part of Eastern Tennessee, Chattanooga is home to all forms of hiking, mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.

Though river recreation is bountiful near Benton and draws incredible crowds to the area during the Summer, a consistent number of visitors are drawn to the mountainous, lush region at all times of year. The crowds pick up starting in March, when the area is in full bloom. As soon as the rapids shut off for the season at the end of September, the fall foliage welcomes in guests who can’t turn away an opportunity to see the changing colors of fall foliage. During the wintertime months, the cabins’ homey interiors are just as alluring as the hot tubs and fire pits. The Woodland’s amenities and design create an immersive outdoor experience that captivates people, regardless of the time of year.
