Facing out towards a panoramic view of the St. Michaels Harbor, the Log Canoe Inn is named in honor of the historic log canoe sailing vessels, built in the historic harbors of the Chesapeake Bay. Each of our six rooms and suites are named after a famous log canoe, and display pictures, trophies, and other memorabilia unique to that vessel. Located at the end of Carpenter Street, and just a short walk to Carpenter Street Saloon, a true "local" bar, you may even run into some log canoe sailors, especially during the summer regatta season.

The Log Canoe Inn offers waterfront rooms and suites, all with a stunning view of the Saint Michaels Harbor. Located only two short blocks from Talbot Street, the main town road, our property is within a comfortable walking distance to everywhere in town, but still sits back far enough to maintain a private and tranquil atmosphere. If you are traveling by boat, we can accommodate vessels under 30 feet at our slips, and vessels over 30 feet at a slip over at Higgins Yacht Yard & Marina, located right beside our property.
Built in 1790, our main house was primarily a private residence. From 1921 until 1930, it served as the original clubhouse of the Miles River Yacht Club. Today, our main house still maintains its antique furnishings and original long leaf yellow pine floors, to keep the same history and charm it held over two hundred years ago. During the summer months, our guests can enjoy the view on our spacious lawn by relaxing down by the water, while during the winter months they can enjoy the ambiance and warmth of the fireplace.

Property and Cancellation Policies :
  • Cancellation notifications must be received at least 14 days in advance of the reserved check-in date, to avoid the full charge of the reservation.
  • For reservations of our entire property (all six rooms and suites), including during a wedding or event, cancellation notifications must be received at least 60 days in advance of the reserved check-in date, to avoid the full charge of the reservation.
  • Cancellation notifications received within 24 hours of booking the reservation you wish to cancel, will be cancelled without charge.
  • All cancellations are subject to a $25.00 service fee.
  • We offer no refunds for early departures.
Terms and Conditions

General House Rules

  • Room occupancy is limited to two guests per room. Any unregistered guests found to be staying overnight will result in an additional room charge.
  • Our property is strictly reserved for guests of the Inn. No unregistered guests or visitors are permitted on our grounds, unless during a wedding or other event.
  • For guests bringing any children or infants, they are to remain under the guest’s full supervision at all times, and the guest will accept full and complete responsibility for their child’s behavior and actions. Our property is in no manner child-proof, and you must provide any accommodations necessary for your child.
  • Any damages are the responsibility of the guests. Guests are subject to be charged for any damages, destruction of, or stealing of property, valuables, or linens.

Check-in and Check-out

  • Check-in is between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. Please notify us in advance to schedule a different check-in or check-out time, and we may be able to accommodate your request. 
  • A $10 charge will be assessed for lost or missing room keys. 

Accommodations

  • Due to COVID-19, we are not offering daily room service.
  • The kitchen and innkeeper's quarters are off-limits to guests. The kitchen may be requested during weddings and special events for the use of the catering and event staff only. 

Rates and Deposits

  • Along with our standard room rates, we are subject to charge taxes and fees. A 6% Maryland Sales Tax, and 4% Talbot County Accommodation Tax will be added to all reservations.
  • We reserve the right to require a deposit to hold your reservation.
  • For reservations of our entire property (all six rooms and suites), including during weddings and events, a 50% deposit is required to hold the reservation.
  • For reservations of seven consecutive nights or longer, regardless of the number of rooms/suites reserved, a 50% deposit is required to hold the reservation.
  • One source of payment is required for any deposit and the final bill.
  • Final payment is due upon checking in.
  • We reserve the right to terminate any guests’ stay without refund for any behavior that violates our policies. Guests asked to leave will be charged the full amount for their reservation, plus any additional charges will be assessed for missing or damaged property, additional cleaning fees, etc.

Weddings and Special Events

  • For all weddings and events, a 50% deposit is required, and is required to hold the reservation.
  • The remainder of the balance is due in full on the reserved check-in date. Deposits may be refunded due to unforeseen circumstances and COVID-19 related incidences.
  • A 60 day notification in advance of the reserved check-in date is required to cancel any weddings or events without penalty. Notifications less than 60 days of the reserved check-in date are subject to be charged the full remaining amount on the day of notification.
  • All weddings, parties, and special events may only be held on the property with prior approval, and require the reservation of our entire property, including all six rooms and suites.

Pets

  • The property manager must be notified of and approve of any pets prior to your reservation. Typically, we only approve dogs less than 100 pounds.
  • Unapproved pets will result in a $100 fee.
  • Our pet-friendly suites are the Lark Suite, the Magic Suite, and the Island Bird Suite. Our rooms located in the main house, including the Mystery Room, Oliver’s Gift Room, and Mary Rider Room, are not pet-friendly.
  • All pets are to remain under the guests’ attention at all times. All guests must accept full and complete responsibility for their pet and their action.
  • There is absolutely no use of our grounds to relieve your pets.

Smoking

  • No smoking, vaping, or any use of electronic cigarettes is allowed in or within 25 feet of any building on the property. Evidence of smoking in or near a building will result in a $250 cleaning fee.
