We're located at the entrance to the Terlingua Ghost Town and ON-THE-GRID (which is only available within a certain radius of the Ghost Town). That means we pay top dollar to offer you and yours running water that is purified through the town's reverse osmosis system & electricity that comes from 300 miles away. Furthermore, we have the absolute best views of the iconic Chisos Mountain Range from the Restaurant on site. The High Sierra Bar and Grill serves food from Noon-10pm, vegan and vegetarian options available. Late night food is available on the weekends, and during busy season, and is the only place in town with a 2 am license. Local entertainment is pretty spectacular around here, and the bar has musicians and entertainers from all over asking to play at the iconic High Sierra as they are traveling through! The High Sierra has top notch acoustics so you’ll want to spend a night out to enjoy the entertainment…and not to mention you will be one of the lucky few that has the closest walk in town back to your boutique room! The High Sierra has a full bar, frozen cocktails, special drink menu featuring local and regional liquor (the prickly pear margarita is a must…as we harvest our own syrup from the fruit!), draft beer, the widest variety of micro beers in town, mexican beers, and domestic flavors from all over Texas.

The Ghost Town Hotel has been owned by the Drilling family since 2021. Being long time land owners in the area, and huge lovers of the dark sky and stars, there was no other place they would rather own for people to gather, play, sleep and eat! The hotel was built with adobe, brick by brick by the previous owner and one of the west's last authentic bounty hunters, Herman Everett (featured on a few Italian produced movies as well as the TV series Badlands and Gas Monkey Garage). The Hotel and Bar are reminiscent of a Clint Eastwood movie and the colourful locals and unending vistas are unforgettable. The Drilling family has renovated the hotel beyond measure, updating and remodelling. The rooms will not only meet your needs, but hopefully exceed your expectations of what you think you can find out here in the middle of nowhere! Yes, the exterior still reminds you that you are in Ghost Town, and it remains that way on purpose, but the interiors are a totally different story! Important Area Wide Disclaimer **** Wifi and Satellite TV connections do not always function as we would like, thus we do not guarantee those services nor give refunds if they don't work. Our area's internet tries to keep-up but when there are many new high-tech devices attempting to stream, it might not perform like we wish it would. Unfortunately, that can be the downfall of visiting such a remote area. But, it is worth it! You will see! Also, be prepared for weather related drawbacks and please understand that services are lacking a bit, way out here in the wild wild west! We might loose power..but guess what?! We have two brand new generators (for the restaurant and the hotel) that not many other accommodations can say the same around here. Also, be prepared that your cell phones might not work properly at times with certain providers, or an overload on the system. Preparation is important when coming to the Big Bend, as this area is far away from modern amenities and it is extremely expensive to get “the basics”out here like electricity, water, cell service, fuel, and even food. With all this in mind, please understand that we are absolutely dedicated to providing you the best experience possible and will do what we can to make your stay wonderful and will memories that will last a lifetime We can’t wait for you to come!

Check-In/ Check-Out
Check-In is at 3 PM. Check-Out is at 11 AM. If you desire an early check-in or a late check-out, please make this request through the office as it is based upon availability. If customer has not vacated their room by 11 AM on their check-out day, one additional night will be charged in full to credit card on file.
SMOKING
NO SMOKING in any room at any time. A one time fee of $400 will be charged to your credit card on file if this smoking policy was violated.
PETS
Pets are only permitted in certain rooms. Not all rooms on property are pet friendly. You must register and pay a standard $50 per pet, non-refundable, pet fee before entering room. You must also have a credit card on file in case of any damages that may occur. There will be a charge of $100 per night, per pet, for Undeclared Pets, and guest will have their reservation terminated on the spot with no refund or chance of rain-check.
