Welcome to Barco Verde Hostal, we are a group of travelers who found ourselves on this wonderful island, and we decided to build an international family, inspired by the nature of the place and the diverse cultures that visit us. Our goal is for people who arrive to feel at home, even if they are far from theirs. We are a family like hostel and we want to warmly welcome all those adventurers who dare to come to this paradise.
Our hostel offers a variety of comfortable and well-maintained rooms, ranging from private rooms to shared dormitories, to accommodate travelers of all kinds. We provide high-speed Wi-Fi (Starlink) and a great range of facilities, including fully equiped kitchen , a communal lounge area, we also have hammocks and outdoor seating areas where you can relax.
We pride ourselves on our friendly and welcoming staff, who are always ready to assist you with any questions you may have about the island, as well as offer tips on the best places to visit and things to do.
Our hostel's central location means that we are just a short walk away from some of Holbox's most iconic sights, one block from the white sand beaches, the colorful murals, and the vibrant local markets. We are also conveniently located near public transport links, making it easy for you to explore the island further.

What to do in Holbox ?

Our honest advices and recommendation about Holbox:
Money : Get cash before coming on the islandThere are only 2 ATMs on the island and they are often out of order especially during high season and weekends. Cards are accepted to most places WHEN internet is working, so better be prepared before coming. You can also change USD or EUR on the island.
Weather : don't believe Google Holbox has mostly 2 seasons: - the dry season . From February to June the weather is generally hot and there is few rain.
- the rainy season : according to google, it is raining everyday in the year . The reality: the weather is hard to predict and changing quickly. It might be raining on one side of the island and not on the other.
Usually, mornings are sunny and in the afternoon you might get a free shower that doesn't last long. Holbox doesn't have paved roads but only sand, so the street might get flodded and muddy... and the mosquitos might eat you alive. You can buy repellent on the island.
Internet/Phone : The phone and internet coverage is generally bad in Holbox compared to cities like Cancun or Tulum. The only phone networks working on the island are AT&T and Telcel. You can buy chip and refill your credit on the island.3G is working on the island but there are often cuts.
Barco Verde Hostel Policy and Condition: Cancellation Policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay. Check in from: 15.00 to 22.00 Check out : 11.00am - We can store your luggage at the reception and you can keep enjoying the day on the island. You can also use our showers and facilities.
Payment upon arrival by cash, card (+5%) and paypal.Taxes included. Breakfast included. General: AC is turned on from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Reception from 08:00 am to 08.30 pm.No curfew.
