Reservations and Cancellations
By reserving with West River House (WRH), you and members of your party agree to all Terms and Conditions and the Cancellation Policy as a binding legal agreement with WRH. Guests violating any Terms and Conditions may be immediately removed, evicted, or locked out. WRH does not refund guests for eviction, lockout, or early termination of stay for any reason.- Travel Insurance: WRH does not offer travel or cancellation insurance and recommends purchasing travel insurance to protect your reservation investment.
- No Refunds for Uncontrollable Events: WRH does not guarantee or offer refunds, partial or full, for cancellations or interruptions caused by weather, road conditions, road closures, health issues, family emergencies, resort closures, smoke, canceled/postponed events, pandemics, natural disasters, acts of ‘god,’ terrorism, or similar unfavorable circumstances.
- Third-Party Reservations: This cancellation policy applies only to direct reservations made through phone or the WRH website. Reservations through third-party vendors (e.g., OTAs, travel agents, group sales) are subject to the cancellation policy of the respective vendor, which may differ from and supersede WRH's policy.
- Deposit Requirement: A 100% payment of the total reservation cost is required as a deposit to secure your booking.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations Received 10+ Days Before Arrival: Cancellations submitted in writing to info@wriverhouse.comat least 10 days before the arrival date will receive a 50% refund of the canceled portion of the reservation, with the remainder forfeited.
- Cancellations Within 10 Days of Arrival: Refunds up to 50% of the canceled portion may be issued if all the following conditions are met:
- Notification of cancellation is provided before the arrival date. For same-day cancellations, calling or texting is recommended, followed by an email.
- The canceled bed or room is re-rented at a rate of at least 90% of the canceled sell rate, and the room type achieves 100% occupancy.
- After the canceled reservation's check-out date, but no later than five days afterward, the guest emails info@wriverhouse.com with the following message:
“WRH, I canceled my reservation. Were you able to rent out my bed, and am I eligible for a partial refund? I was supposed to check in on (fill in date).
Thanks,
(fill in the name on the reservation).” - Refund Processing: Refunds may take several days to process and an additional 5–10 business days to appear in your account, depending on your credit card company. Please contact WRH if the refund is not received within this timeframe.
- No Refunds After Check-In: WRH does not offer refunds or credits for cancellations after check-in.
- Non-Transferable Reservations: Reservations cannot be transferred to other guests or sublet.
- No-Show Policy: Guests who fail to check-in without prior notification forfeit their reservation and payment.
Additional Policies
- WRH reserves the right to cancel a reservation, “blacklist” guests, or refuse service without prior notice or reason.
- WRH is not responsible for guest travel arrangements, safety, choices, or errors in reservations.
- Reservations are secured only with full payment.

Terms and Conditions
Rates and Discounts
- All rates and dates are final upon confirmation.
- Rates for unconfirmed reservations are subject to change without prior notice.
- Specials, discounts, and other offers are subject to change without prior notice and cannot be combined.
Communication and Messaging
- WRH is a self-service establishment offering communication with guests via phone, text, and email. There is no front desk for service.
- By providing your mobile number, you consent to receive text messages from WRH via its messaging provider, Whistle Messaging. These texts include reservation details, offers specific to your booking, and customer support.
- Message frequency varies. To opt-out, reply with the word STOP to any WRH text. For help, reply with the word HELP. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Smoking
- Smoking is not permitted on the property. It is only allowed at least 25 feet from the building, in compliance with California law.
- Guests must dispose of cigarette butts responsibly—no littering.
- A $500 cleaning fee will be charged for smoking or vaping of any kind inside the property.
Laundry
- WRH does not offer laundry services.
River Access
- Trespassing through neighboring properties to access the river is strictly prohibited.
- Public river access is available at the intersection of West River Street and Bridge Street (toward the West).
Check-In/Check-Out & Hours
- Check-In: 4:00 PM. Guests will receive door codes via email or SMS after online check-in. Codes will only function after 4:00 PM and stop functioning at check-out time.
- Check-Out: 11:00 AM. WRH does not offer late check-outs.
- All guests must upload a valid government-issued ID during online check-in. The guest’s credit card used for the reservation must match the ID of the staying guest.
- Front Deck: Closed at 9:30 PM.
- Guest Age: Registered guests must be 18 years or older to book and stay.
WiFi, Services, and Utilities
- While WRH strives to provide quality WiFi throughout the property, bandwidth and connectivity are not guaranteed.
- Downloading illegal files is prohibited and may result in building-wide ISP disconnection and guest ejection without refund.
- WRH does not offer refunds for WiFi or utility issues, including disruptions beyond our control.
Food & Drinks
- No food or drinks are allowed in bunk rooms or carpeted shared areas.
- Please use designated communal areas for eating and drinking. A communal refrigerator is available for food storage.
Communal Bathroom Use
- Guests must clean up after themselves.
- Do not leave personal belongings in bathrooms.
- Leave the bathroom cleaner than you found it.
Footwear
- Footwear (flip-flops, shoes, or socks) must be worn in all communal areas, including dorm rooms.
- Bare feet or shoes are not permitted on furniture.
Linens & Sleeping Bags
- Clean linens are provided.
- Sleeping bags and personal blankets or pillows are not allowed. If additional linens are needed, please ask staff.
- Shared dorm guests must leave dirty towels on their private bunk hook or in the private bunk locker upon check-out. Do not take towels, pillows, or linens from other bunks.
Room Maintenance (Shared Bunk Rooms ONLY)
- Shared bunk rooms must remain neat and orderly.
- Use bunk hooks for hanging towels.
- Dirty towels should be left on private bunk hooks or in private bunk lockers upon check-out.
- Do not take towels, pillows, or linens from other bunks.
Damages and Cleaning
- Rooms are cleaned before arrival and after check-out. Daily cleaning service is not provided.
- The credit card on file will be charged for damages or additional cleaning beyond normal wear and tear.
- Missing towels incur a $25 charge.
- Minor damages will not be charged if promptly reported to staff.
Registered and Unregistered Guests
- Guests must not share key code information with others.
- Do not open exterior doors or grant entry to others without WRH staff consent.
- Unregistered guests are not permitted in private rooms, bunk rooms, or common areas without prior approval.
- Reservations show the maximum permitted occupancy per room. Exceeding this occupancy will result in a $100 charge per extra person and may lead to eviction.
Parking
- WRH does not provide on-site parking. Guests must use designated public parking areas described on wriverhouse.com or building literature.
- Public parking is not available on Riverside Dr.
- Overnight parking on West River St. during winter is prohibited and will result in a $100 fee (towing may apply).
- WRH is not responsible for parking tickets, fees, or other parking-related costs.
Noise Policy
- Use headphones for music, movies, games, or calls in shared spaces.
- Phone calls are prohibited in bunk rooms; please use communal areas.
- Quiet hours: 9 PM–9 AM for common spaces; 8 PM–9 AM for shared dorms.
Pets
- Pets are not allowed. Bringing a pet on-site will incur a $200 charge, and the guest will be ejected without refund.
Shared Dorm Bunk Reservations
- Reservations for specific bunks do not guarantee placement in the same bunkroom.
Liability
- WRH accepts no responsibility for damage, loss, or injury to any guest, vehicle, or personal belongings.
- WRH does not guarantee weather, road, or snow conditions.
Lost and Found
- WRH is not responsible for items left behind and does not offer shipping services for lost items.
Local Laws
- Guests must comply with all local, state, and federal laws during their stay.
Miscellaneous
- Guests are encouraged to notify WRH promptly of any cleanliness, disrepair, or safety issues.
Code of Conduct and Communal Respect
- Guests must behave respectfully toward staff and other guests.
- Rambunctious, threatening, drunk, or disorderly behavior will result in immediate eviction without refund.
- Simply put: Don’t be “that person.”
Changes to Terms
- WRH reserves the right to update Terms and Conditions. The version in effect at the time of the reservation applies.
