We have a bar fully stocked with all of your favorite alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, a full breakfast, lunch & dinner menu prepared by our gourmet Mayan chefs.
We offer private glamping options (1-3 people) as well as our very popular cozy lakehouse which sits out on the water. All types of accommodation are fully set up with electrical power and warm blankets.
All guests can enjoy unlimited use of Free Cerveza’s facilities and equipment. You can sunbathe and swim off of our private docks, enjoy unlimited use of our stand up paddleboards and tubes, take out our kayaks for a little adventure, zen out with our yoga mats on our lakefront platform, or hang out in our steamy sauna for an afternoon. We also have a selection of fun board games, cornhole boards, and a beer pong table for guest use. We also have limited access to WIFI - although we promise, you will find a better connection with the people and the atmosphere.
In a mission to protect our beautiful environment, the owners built this property with love, using eco-friendly materials and technology such as compost toilets, recycled wood, and glass bottles, and LED lighting.
Free Cerveza is located in Santa Cruz la Laguna on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, only a 10-minute boat ride from the main dock at Panajachel. You can even ask for the driver to drop you off directly on our private dock!

If you do not let us know at least 3 days in advance, this will result in NO refund of your payment.
However, please be advise, this does not apply to reservations made for the Lakehouse. All reservations for the Lakehouse are FINAL.
There will be NO refunds or changes once the payment for your reservation has been made.

Booking
By placing your reservation with us, you agree to all of our terms & conditions.
In order to maintain our summer camp vibe, all guests must be older than 18 years of age. Please note that guests below the age of 18 are not allowed on the premises.
We DO NOT accept reservations through email, WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, Instagram messenger, or through the phone. Reservations can only be made via our website or Hostelworld. In order to confirm your reservation, you must pay a deposit for the full amount of your reservation at least 10 days prior to your stay.
Cancellation Policy
Please note that we have a 3-day cancellation policy.

Check-In and Check-Out
The check-in times & policies for Free Cerveza are as follows:
Check-In: from 14:00 onwards
Check-Out: by 11:00 AM
If you arrive before our check-in time, you are more than welcome to use our facilities (kayaks, paddleboards, sauna, etc.) upon arrival. If you would like to stay with us another night, please try to let us know the day before.
Payment
When you check-in you will be asked for identification (International passport or a DPI) and confirmation of your deposit or payment for your accommodation.
We work with a tab system for all of our guests. Your tab will be listed under your full name and all food & drink consumed during your stay will be added to this account. You will be responsible for paying this in full when checking out.
Please note that we are a cash-only facility and do not accept credit cards as a form of payment. There are also no ATMs available in Santa Cruz so please plan accordingly.
We accept both Guatemalan Quetzales and US Dollars (at our exchange rate).
Arriving at Free Cerveza
DO NOT USE WAZE OR GOOGLE MAPS TO GET TO FREE CERVEZA IN SANTA CRUZ. THERE IS NO ROAD ACCESS TO FREE CERVEZA AND YOUR CAR WILL GET STUCK AND NEED TO BE TOWED.
In order to get to us, you must first arrive in Panajachel then take a lancha to the Free Cerveza dock in Santa Cruz. If you are driving, there is parking available in Panajachel at the Tzanjuyu Bay parking lot (7762-1318 or 7762-1322).
At the moment, the schedule for the public lanchas is inconsistent and subject to change. However, there are a few public lanchas available on most days until 5 PM for around Q25 per person.
If you will be arriving after 5 PM, just let us know and we can arrange a private lancha for you at an additional cost.
Lost Property
Free Cerveza is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please keep track of your belongings, and feel free to utilize our lockers for added security.
House Rules. These rules apply to ALL guests on our premises.
1. Outside Food and Alcohol
We have a very strict no outside food or alcohol policy. Guests are not permitted to bring in any of their own food or drinks into the hostel. We have our own licensed bar and restaurant where you can purchase meals & drinks during your stay with us. We also have free drinking water available for all of our guests.
Please note, if you enter the premises with coolers or grocery bags, we will ask you to leave it behind our reception for the duration of your stay. Additionally, we will check your room upon checkout and if we find outside food & drinks, we will add a fee to your tab for not abiding by our regulations.
2. Pets
We have 3 dogs on our property that are people-friendly but don’t particularly like other dogs. Due to this, we don’t accept any outside animals on the property.
3. Smoking
Smoking is only permitted within our common area. Our accommodation options are made out of canvas and wood - so are highly flammable. If any guests are found smoking in their glamps/rooms or on any other part of our property they will receive a Q1000 fine and be required to leave immediately with absolutely no refunds on their accommodation.
Please respect this rule and consider the safety of everyone on our property.
4. Drugs
We have a blanket ban on the consumption of all illegal drugs on our property. If any guests are found consuming drugs they will be asked to leave the premises immediately without a refund and depending on the severity of the situation, the police may be called.
5. Weapons
Absolutely no weapons are allowed on the hostel premises. This includes guns, arms, knives, or weapons of any kind. We do our best to create a fun and peaceful environment, so anyone found breaking this rule will be asked to leave immediately and the police will be called.
6. The Right to Refuse Service
Free Cerveza reserves the right to refuse service at any given time. If you are rude, aggressive, drunk & disorderly, or make any of our staff or guests feel uncomfortable or unsafe you may be refused service at our staff’s discretion.
In addition to this, if deemed necessary you may be asked to leave without receiving a refund, charged additional fees for potential damage, and/or call the police if deemed necessary.
7. Disability Access
Unfortunately, due to the fact that Free Cerveza is only accessible by boat and based on the architectural layout of our property - the hostel is not wheelchair accessible nor do we have any disabled facilities.
