About the property:
The Sugar Creek Vacation Retreat offers Vacation Retreat Rooms perfect for couples or singles, or the busy Exec that just needs a quick, relaxing weekend/getaway to decompress and get back to 100%. We are minutes from Beaver Lake in GORGEOUS NW Arkansas. The property is a treed four acre wood with native stone rock bluffs, trails, a spring and a creek. We have multiple outdoors spaces including a firepit, a garden area, a garden bench, picnic table, a place to BBQ, and a covered pavilion with occasional seating. We are close the Ventris boat launch for a day of kayaking and swimming on the lake, or you can go to one of the many Army-Corps parks and others on Beaver Lake.
The space:
Our Rustic Modern retreat rooms evoke the feel of a lodge with the comforts we know and love. With wood walls, natural oak blinds and views of the creek and woods. Each room has a private bath. We currently do not offer kitchens or kitchenette units (however we are looking at adding these to our remodel). The room sleeps 2 adults (3-4 people if foldout loveseat is used for children). Each featuring a luxurious plush Euro-top Queen size, 13" thick, memory foam mattress and 600 thread-count combed, Egyptian cotton sheets that guarantee anyone a great night. Each room features a sofa or loveseat, side tables and comfortable upholstered chairs; some suites have a refrigerator and microwave available in-room.Your Retreat room is totally unplugged (except for the hair dryer). No TV's and, we even chose to forego the alarm clock, specifically so you can just lose yourself for a second in time: RELAX, BREATHE, and take in the wonders of our place on this planet. However, if you find you must conduct business, free WiFi is available.
Other things to note:
Currently all of our rooms are on the second floor and require ability to climb stairs. We do not have a handicap accessible suite at this time, but one is planned in a future addition. We are also currently undergoing an addition of a coffee shop & cafe, The Sugar Creek Coffee Company & Cafe, a full service, light to medium fare cafe.

We all enjoy very much interacting with our guests and discussing their plans and previous travels; if they like to share or talk, but will generally let the guest direct this interaction. We are very laid-back and casual hosts.
About the Area:
We are minutes from Beaver Lake in GORGEOUS NW Arkansas. The Ventris boat launch is 4 minutes away for a nice day of kayaking and swimming on the lake, or you can go to Lost Bridge North or South Army-corp of Engineers parks for sightseeing or a nice picnic in about 5 minutes. Pea Ridge National Park, a civil war landmark, is only 2.5 miles away; an amazing park with tour, trails, biking and recreation activities.Additionally we are not far from many other popular attractions including War Eagle and The Hobbs Recreation Area, 20 minutes to Eureka Springs, only 15 minutes from Rogers or downtown Bentonville with the amazing Crystal Bridges Art Museum. Also Rogers and Bentonville are with 15 mins for the hardcore shoppers!
About us:
We are a family owned and operated Retreat. After retiring from an Academic career with Pitt State and the University of Arkansas, due to health issues, I purchased this property and began renovation of the entire property. We are ecologically minded and try to minimize waste and recycle and use recycled products on the property as appropriate. We have a housekeeper that lives on the property. We also have spent a considerable amount of time and energy landscaping and creating pleasing outdoor spaces. We all enjoy the outdoors, fishing and kayaking. We all enjoy very much interacting with our guests and discussing their plans and previous travels, if they like to share or talk, but will generally let the guest direct this interaction. We are very laid-back and casual hosts.

Full Charge - Full Stay - If canceled within 1 days of arrival
Partial Charge - 40% of Full Stay - If canceled within 4 days of arrival
No Charge - If canceled within 14 days of arrival
Terms and Conditions
- Any deposits or other charges related to the reservation may be charged immediately upon reservation, to secure reservation and is refundable subject to our online & OTA cancellation policies, which may vary depending on the booking site you have chosen.
- No Guest Pets are allowed on property.
- No Damage to Property will be tolerated. Damage fees will be collected.
- No Trash shall be left lying or improperly disposed.
- No smoking or vaping in the facility or a $250 fee will be charged to the offending parties reservation account and this is non-negotiable. Vaping and smoking are allowed outdoors, as is drinking and eating.
- Prices and Taxes
- Taxes may not be included in your reservation and may be collected upon on-site arrival as necessary.
- Payment and Terms at Check-in, Check-out
- Keys must be returned to reservation desk or key drop box upon check-out or $50 re-key fee is charged.
- Payment is due, in full, at time of arrival. Credit card will be placed on file for incidentals, damages or other fees & taxes. Owner may waive damage deposit at discretion. Owner may offer late check-out to guests as he wishes. Damage fees may be assessed after or prior to departure.
- Traveling with Minors
- Our rooms have one Queen and a pull out sofa with a double mattress, other than this extra beds are not available. The pull out can usually accommodate 2 children from 2/3 to 11/12 years of age. If upon arrival you find that you do not have enough room, the owner may, at his discretion, offer another available room for the others in your party at an agreed upon rate. It is our goal that every guest is comfortable and happy. Also there is a game lending library in the hall. We ask that there be no running up and down the halls and everyone use inside voices inside. Outside please use trash receptacles. Quiet hours begin at 10:30 PM and run until 8 AM.
- Accessibility or Special Needs:
- Currently we DO NOT have ADA accessible rooms, but as a disabled person myself, it is a top priority that we build an ADA compliant ground floor suite as soon as finances permit. I apologize for this and hope to resolve it in the next year.
- Parking
- Parking is free, uncovered and at the rear of the building in the lot demarcated by railroad ties. Upon special request we may have parking available for those with boats but 4 days advance notice and size with trailer are required.
- Hotel Events
- Breakfast is usually served by 8AM and snacks by 1PM. However upon special request the owner may make breakfast available earlier upon guests needs.
- Dispute Resolution/Problems
- Owner reserves all legal rights. Owner reserves the right to keep cancellations fees as per policy. Owner reserves the right to refuse service to any guest, for any reason, and a refund may or may not be issued depending on the reason. Guest stay may be terminated by owner/staff at any time due to breech of property and house rules or disorderly/destructive behavior. Guest complaints will be investigated and Sheriff reports will be filled as necessary. Guest agrees to pay for arbitration, court or legal fees if a matter rises to that level and guest is found at fault. If owner acted in a manner that would cause him fault, he will pay only his own legal and court costs.
- Use of Personal information
- We value your privacy and will never share it with other organizations. We may however use this information to contact you with future special offers or to communicate with prior guests. Credit cards on file will only be stored long enough to resolve a stay, unless otherwise authorized.
- Liability
- Guest agrees to indemnify The Sugar Creek Retreat, Owner and all Staff for any liabilities for any reason. This property is a nature retreat and you are completely responsible for and incidents that occur regardless of cause, harm or injury. Ownrs SPECIFICALLY disclaim all liability for guests staying at or around the property.
- Force Majeure
- The Sugar Creek Retreat, James Parker or other associated staff (herein referred to as "retreat party") is not liable for failure to perform the party's obligations if such failure is as a result of Acts of God (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm, hurricane or other natural disaster), war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities (regardless of whether war is declared), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation, terrorist activities, nationalization, government sanction, blockage, embargo, labor dispute, strike, lockout or interruption or failure of electricity or telephone service. No party is entitled to terminate this Agreement in such circumstances.
- If a party asserts Force Majeure as an excuse for failure to perform the party's obligation, then the nonperforming party must prove that the party took reasonable steps to minimize delay or damages caused by foreseeable events, that the party substantially fulfilled all non-excused obligations, and that the other party was timely notified of the likelihood or actual occurrence of an event described in this clause (Force Majeure).
- 3rd Party Rights
- No agreement, contract or reservation can be transferred, gifted, bequeathed, assigned or given to another Third Party. The original party will be liable for all costs and considered a "no show." Dates and guests are not movable or transferable for any reservation. Third Parties shall be deemed to have no rights or affiliation and will be refused service or offered services (accommodations) at then current rates, this is in addition to the retreat party collecting the cancellation or no-show fees from the first party as per the terms in effect at the time of their reservation.
- Waiver
- Guest agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Sugar Creek Retreat, James Parker and all affiliates for any damages, loss or injury due to accident, neglect, careless action or any other reason.
- Severance
- The Retreat Party reserves the right to refuse service to any guest or client for any reason. The guest has the right to cancel as per the cancellation policies (and the terms therein) that were/are in effect at the time the reservation was made .
