First established in 1833, the NuWray is North Carolina's oldest continuously operating hotel. It is located directly on the Burnsville Town Square, close to many shops, restaurants, and activities. The main hotel is currently undergoing a major restoration, and rooms there will be available in 2024. Meanwhile, the Carriage House building just behind the hotel has been renovated with 4 new hotel rooms on the 2nd floor available for rent now, and a market, cafe, and wine & cigar shop on the 1st floor. Terms and Conditions
Check-in/Check-out: Check-in is available as early as 4 p.m., and guests must check out by 11 a.m. Early check-in and late check-out may be requested for an additional fee, but is subject to availability.
Damage: Should any damage be caused by a guest—including permanently soiled linens, broken furniture, damaged artwork, etc.—we reserve the right to charge the card on file at market price for replacements.
Parking: We do not have reserved parking for hotel guests, but guests can find many public parking spaces all around the Town Square, on S. Main St., and on East-West Blvd.
Pets: We allow up to two pet visitors (dogs only) in the CARRIAGE HOUSE ROOMS only. You must choose the "Bring a Pet" rate fee, or contact us at the time of booking so that the appropriate pet fee can be assessed. If we discover non-declared pets, we reserve the right to charge the card on file a double pet fee.
Reservations: Must be 18 years or older to book a room, and max occupancy number of guests must always be observed. Room rates are subject to change, and are subject to 12.75% state and local taxes. Your reservation is guaranteed until the day of arrival. After that time, it will no longer be guaranteed and the room may be reassigned. We will charge your credit card for one night's stay upon booking, and the remaining balance upon arrival. The hotel has the right to cancel your reservation if we do not receive the deposit in a timely manner. We will send you a cancellation confirmation via email immediately after canceling your booking.
Smoking: The NuWray Hotel (including the Carriage House rooms) is a non-smoking property. This applies to both traditional smoking methods and all electronic delivery systems, including vapes, vaporizers, vape pens, hookah pens, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes or e-cigs), e-pipes, and any variations of the foregoing regardless of the product’s name. Any evidence of smoking in the rooms or strong lingering smoking scents in rooms will result in a $200 room cleaning fee. Guests may smoke outside, away from building entrances, and we ask that you please always be respectful of other guests and properly dispose of your trash.
