The Royal Hotel - the Top Pub - has been part of Dungog life since the 19th
Century. A thorough renovation has refreshed the Royal Hotel combining modern amenities with heritage features.
Most of the bedrooms are on the first floor,
accessed by the front staircase (there are no lifts). We also have a 3 bedroom luxury self-contained apartment on the ground floor, which can sleep up to six people. There is also a self-contained deluxe studio apartment for 1 to 4 people with an accessible ground floor entrance. All guest bedrooms have been stylishly refurbished, with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, opening
windows, blackout blinds, internet television, fast wifi, luxury bedding
and a sink with hot and cold water. The shared bathrooms have been upgraded to a high standard,
with separate facilities for men and women, and offer a great deal of privacy, and quality amenities. Bathrobes and slippers are provided for
all guests. We do not offer daily room servicing, but extra towels and service can be arranged. A range of sleeping options can be chosen, such as single, twin, double and queen rooms, with the queen rooms allowing for an additional single bed. Our standard configuration can accommodate up to 32 people, which makes the Royal Hotel ideal for large group events, such as wedding parties or corporate getaways. A guest kitchen, with microwave, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities adjoins a breakfast room and a stylish, comfortable guest lounge. Laundry service is available on request, and there is a separate ironing room with a clothes dryer.
The Royal Suite on the first floor offers the finest hotel accommodation in Dungog, and has a queen bed, separate dining/living room, separate single bedroom, sofa beds and sleeps up to 5 people, with private bathroom.
The ground floor Royal Apartment has a queen bedroom, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, kitchen, living room and private bathroom.
The ground floor Royal Studio has a queen bed and two king singles, a living area and separate kitchen and private bathroom.
Lock up garages are provided for bicycle and motorbike overnight storage.
Within the hotel, the Front Bar offers coffee and pastries from 8am Tuesday to Sunday, with lunch from 12pm Tuesday to Sunday, and dinner from 6pm Tuesday to Saturday.
The Royal Hotel is in the main street, close to other
cafés, shops and restaurants, and a short walk from the Dungog
Railway Station.

Our rooms are strictly non-smoking, and there is no smoking allowed inside the hotel at all or on the first floor balcony/verandah. You may smoke outside on the back deck at the rear of the hotel, or in the back garden, but please make sure that there are no doors open to the hotel nearby. Smoke detectors have been installed throughout the hotel, and if alarms are triggered by smoking, penalties and costs will be incurred.
Royal Suite, Queen Rooms, Double Rooms, Single Rooms and Twin room are all on the first floor, accessed by either of two staircases. These rooms are not suitable for guests who cannot climb the stairs. The Royal Apartment and the Royal Studio are on the ground floor.
Other than the Royal Suite, Royal Studio and Royal Apartment which have their own bathrooms, guests have access to a basin or vanity in their own room with hot and cold water. Separate renovated bathroom suites are provided for male and female guests, with multiple shower rooms, toilets and baths.
We are considerate of our neighbours and ask that all noise be kept to a minimum, and no noise should be heard coming from the Hotel after 10pm, or before 7am.
Street parking on adjacent Dowling Street is available, however parking on site can be arranged on request.
Please do not eat meals inside your rooms. Please use the guest lounge and tables provided.
Children are to be always in the presence of an adult.
We do not allow dogs on the property, unless as guide or companion dogs.
We abide by Responsible Service of Alcohol guidelines, and do not allow intoxication or illicit drugs on the premises.
Luggage storage can be arranged for departing or arriving guests subject to availability. Liability for lost or stolen goods, including stored luggage, is limited to $300, in line with the NSW Fair Trading Act 1987.
Payment Policy Prices quoted on the website are inclusive of GST. The first night’s payment is charged at the time of booking, and full payment is expected at time of check-in. We will hold a bond of $150 on your card to cover damage, loss of robes, keys or other room items, which will be charged to your card. Damages are not limited to the cost of the bond, and any wilful damage costs will be recovered.
Cancellation Policy Rooms can be cancelled with full refund up to one week before check in. A partial refund may be offered up to three days before check-in. No refund will be offered if cancelled less than three days before check-in. Full payment will not be refunded in the event of a no-show.
