Previously it was a surf camp founded in 1981, in 2010 we reopened our doors as Hotel Santa Catalina, completely renovated and inspired by the typical Panamanian colonial architecture with touches of Spanish style and with a new concept aimed at showing Santa Catalina as a tourist destination of nature, tranquility and adventure, but surrounded by the absolute comfort that each guest deserves in a rural environment, with high-quality service and endless activities designed to make the most of your stay.

Property and Cancelation Policies :
For No-Show and Shortened Stays once you have checked-in: If the guest decides to check-out before the reserved departure date, the total of the nights booked prior to arrival will be charged; there is no refund if you decide to shorten your stay. Please contact us if you are planning to cancel or modify your reservation 4 days before the date of arrival to avoid any kind of fees or penalties.
Terms and Conditions
Type of Room: Your room will be assigned according to the number of people in the reservation, even if you booked a room with more capacity it's not guaranteed you'll get the room. Rates for deluxe double and triple rooms are the same.
The images of the rooms are an illustration of the type of room you're booking, and it may not be an exact representation of the room (s) you'll be assigned.
Room Prices and Taxes: Room prices are in US Dollars. Our quoted prices include all applicable tourism taxes with no additional fees.
Payment: We will not make any charges in adavnce to your credit card. You must pay your stay upon arrival. Must be made Cash or Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard only) upon arrival. You can also guarantee your reservation through a bank transfer or Yappy (Panamanian banks only)
Children: Children ages 0 to 6 years of age stay free of charge. Children ages 7 and up count as adults for room rate purposes. Baby cribs upon request. To ensure the safety and comfort of all guests, we ask that children under the age of 12 be under the full-time care of parents/guardians.
Parking: Parking is available for GUESTS, Restaurant and surf shop clients ONLY. All vehicles must park in designated parking lot just follow the signs.
Non-Guests: third party guests/friends are not permitted in the rooms for the safety and protection of all our hotel guests. Non-guests can visit you at the hotel, but the swimming pool and pool chairs are strictly for the use of guests staying at the hotel.
Housekeeping: Due to Covid housekeeping is done upon request and free of charge (included in the room rate). Any personal clothing items that require laundry may be washed/dried for a fee of US$7.00 per load, which must be paid at the reception office.
Internet Service: We offer Free Wi-Fi in rooms and hotel premises. The internet browsing speed ranges from 20 mb to 30mb, however, speeds may vary depending on the volume of customers connected on the network at the time of use. Also please keep in mind that since Santa Catalina is a very rural area sometimes service can be spotty, unstable or interrupted due to power outages, weather conditions and service failure from the internet provider company.
Pets: Hotel Santa Catalina is a friendly-pet hotel, however there is a fee per night and pet policies that guests need to be aware of. You must contact us before arrival. Only dogs are accepted.
Music: We ask that you respect all our guests by keeping the noise level to a minimum. Enjoy your indoor/outdoor music at all hours with earbuds or a headset since the other guests might not enjoy your choice of music. Speakers are not allowed. Music, television, and all other entertainment enjoyed in guest rooms should not be audible outside of the room or next room.
Food and Beverages: Our rates DO NOT include breakfast or any other meal. Guests cannot bring any outside food or beverages to the restaurant/pool areas, unless hotel’s prior approval. Fees may apply in connection any of the above exceptions. Guests can bring food/beverages to consumed in your room or outside your room (small terrace w hammocks). Coolers are not allowed either.
SMOKING: Anyone entering the hotel premises is obligated to abide by all applicable no-smoking governmental laws, rules and regulations. NO smoking is permitted inside of our rooms, outside the rooms, restaurant, pool or hotel premises, including e-cigarettes. Any violation of this policy is subject to a smoking fee of 250.00 for deep cleaning. If the guest has been warned by one or more members of the staff about not smoking in non smoking areas and the guest insist on not following indications about smoking in areas prohibited then the guest is subject to removal from the Hotel. If the guest is removed from the hotel before his original check out date due to ignoring the staff indications about smoking, no reimburse will be make whatsoever.
Drugs/Substances/Items: No hotel guest shall purchase, use, possess, sell or otherwise distribute illegal drugs or other substances, or attempt to do any of the same while on Hotel premises or in the immediate vicinity thereof. If any of the actions above prove true, the guest will be removed from the hotel, depending on the circumstances, we may have to call the police or relevant authorities.
Damage to Property: If any room items are stolen or if any damage to the property is found to be caused by the renter of the room, the renter will be charged with the full costs for repairing the damages or replacing any missing room items. For this reason, the renters credit card information is requested at the moment of check-in.
CCTV: Guests and patrons should be aware that for safety reasons, we use CCTV across all of our hotel. By entering the hotel premises, you consent to being record on CCTV.Use of Personal Information: We will use the personal information you provide us in connection with your stay, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Liability: All items brought into the hotel are left entirely at the risk of the hotel guest. The Hotel and its staff shall not be liable for any loss or damage for any guest personal items. All rooms are equipped with security lockers/safe and all personal items of value should be stored in the security locker. Needless to say, we have never had any issues with security at our hotel, and your belongings are very safe.
Force Majeure: During forced circumstances or emergency situations like natural disasters or pandemic like Covid-19, where is impossible for guests to travel to or stay at our property, we proactively evaluate reservations on an individual basis and identify those that are eligible for Force Majeure conditions. For bookings where guests can’t complete their stay and which meet the FM conditions, guests can change stay dates with the same value as the original rate booked, guests can find new dates for a future booking (depending on the dates, different rates may apply) or we will waive cancellation / No-show fees.
