Located just a short drive outside of the town of Grand Marais , Minnesota, the Hungry Hippie Hostel is nestled in the hillside overlooking beautiful Lake Superior. On the edge of the wilderness, a mile off of the Superior Hiking Trail and at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the Hungry Hippie Hostel is a great place to relax after an eventful day of play. Let us give you a fun, local North Shore experience! A hostel is a budget orientated, sociable accommodation that is shared among individual travelers and groups for short term stays. We provide common areas and shared facilities with our two and a half bathrooms, cozy lounge, and a primitive kitchenette with a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave and sink. The Hungry Hippie Hostel provides individual or a semi-private group bunk room in our bunkhouse loft or private rooms fully furnished with a queen sized bed at a budget friendly price. Many hostels are located in remarkable buildings. Ours is in our beautiful refurbished barn on our small family farm in Grand Marais.

Our cancelation policy: we need a 24 hour notice for any alterations or cancelation, and you will be refunded your money in full. Cancelations and alterations must be confirmed over the phone. If you are reserving the entire Hostel we require a one month notice, and groups of 10 or more require a weeks notice for a full refund.
We are a pet friendly establishment. However, we do charge an additional $20.00 cleaning fee for pets.

* Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am (Earlybirds & night owls, please plan accordingly. Making coffee at 5am orcooking a meal at 11pm can be a ruckus to those trying to rest up for theirnext adventure.)

Pet Policy
We love animals! We’re happy that you are traveling with man’s best friend!
Because of some of our guest’s allergies, sensitivities,and sometimes fear of pets we ask pet owners to be respectful towards other guests when staying with their pets.
We only allow dogs to stay in private room #5 with their humans, or in the campground. No Pets Aloowed in the Glamping Tents.
Please observe the following rules:
Dogs are not allowed on the bed.
Please bring a kennel or bed for your four legged friend.
Don’t leave your pet unattended in your room, and bring your pet with you when yougo.
Please keep pets on a leash.
Please clean up after your pets.
Please limit your pet to your room, unless you’ve ‘okayed it with other Hostel guests.
We have a resident dog named Charlie. He has free roam of our homestead, so please be respectful of his space. Charlie the dog is a Karelian Bear Dog mix. A Karelian Bear Dog is the national dog of Finland, and in its home country the dog is regarded as a national treasure. We think Charlie is a gem, and he sure thinks all of our guests are too!
Our neighbors have elderly horses that past guest’s pets have harassed, jeopardizing their horse’s health. If your pet is caught harassing the neighbor’s horses you will be asked to leave and you will not be refunded.

Hungry Hippie Hostel reserves the right to decline any booking at our discretion.
Please be kind and courteous to fellow hostel guests, hostel employees and our family, and follow our house rules. Those who fail to comply will be asked to leave the premises without a refund.
