Stay Classy Hostel – Terms of Service

Thank you for choosing to stay at Stay Classy Hostel. By booking a stay with us, you agree to the following Terms of Service. These policies ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all guests.

Check-In Requirements

Guests must:
  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Present a valid government-issued photo ID (must not be a San Diego County resident)

  • Provide a valid credit card in their name

  • Ensure the name on the reservation matches the ID

  • Pay in full prior to check-in

Check-In & Check-Out Times

  • Check-in starts at 4:00 PM on the arrival date and is available 24 hours a day

  • Check-out is at 11:00 AM

Payment Policy

  • Cash is not accepted

  • Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover

Room Rates & Taxes

  • Rates are posted on our website and may change without notice

  • All rates are subject to a 13.75% Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the arrival date

  • No-shows will be charged the rate of the first night of the reservation

  • Group bookings (5 or more beds) require 7 days’ cancellation notice

  • Late cancellations or no-shows will result in the applicable charge

Early Departure Refund Policy

  • If you choose to leave before your scheduled check-out date, you may receive a partial refund for unused nights, provided you notify the front desk at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Refunds are subject to management approval and may exclude promotional or discounted rates.

  • Exceptions may be made only at management’s discretion.

Length of Stay

  • Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights

  • Guests must leave the property for at least 24 hours before rebooking

  • Management may deny or modify extended stay reservations

Guest Conduct & Zero-Tolerance Policy

We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy for the following behaviors:
Fighting, theft, bullying, harassment, belligerence, discrimination, racism, drug use, trafficking, or any illegal activities. Any
 guest engaging in these behaviors will be immediately removed from the property, may be permanently banned at management’s discretion, and will not receive a refund. Additional conduct expectations:
  • Quiet hours:

    • Dorm Rooms: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM

    • Common Areas: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM

  • Guests must respect others, staff, and hostel property at all times

Shared Room Etiquette / Dorm Conduct

To ensure a peaceful experience for all dorm guests, the following etiquette applies:
  • Use headphones for music, videos, or phone calls

  • No smoking, vaping, or eating in dorm rooms

  • Keep personal belongings tidy and stored properly

  • Avoid loud conversations or disruptive behavior

  • Turn off lights or use personal lights when others are sleeping

  • Do not use dorm rooms for phone or video calls during quiet hours

Visitors & Outside Guests

  • All visitors must sign in at the front desk

  • No visitors are allowed during quiet hours

  • Visitors are only allowed in common areas and must be accompanied by a registered guest

  • The reservation holder is responsible and liable for any actions or damages caused by their visitors

  • Attempting to sneak in guests will result in immediate removal, a ban, and no refund

Pets & Service Animals

  • Pets are not allowed

  • Service animals are welcome in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We may ask the two legally permitted questions:

    1. Is this a service animal required due to a disability?

    2. What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?

  • Please notify us in advance so we can assign an ADA pod with additional space

  • Misrepresenting a pet as a service animal may result in removal, a ban, no refund, and a $250 cleaning fee

Wi-Fi & Technology Use Policy

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided for general guest use

  • Guests are prohibited from using the network for:

    • Illegal downloads or file sharing

    • Streaming pirated content

    • Malicious activity or attempts to access unauthorized networks

  • Abuse or disruption of the network may result in access restrictions or disciplinary action

Smoking Policy & Fee

  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere inside the property

  • Violations will result in a $250 cleaning fee and immediate removal without refund

Cleaning & Damages

  • Excessive mess (e.g., bodily fluids, food waste, trash accumulation) will incur a $250 cleaning fee

  • Guests are responsible for any damage caused by themselves or their visitors

  • Theft incidents should be dealt with through local law enforcement

  • The hostel is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings

Lost & Found

  • Lost items will be held for 14 days

  • Unclaimed items may be donated or discarded

  • Perishable items will be discarded immediately

Force Majeure

Stay Classy Hostel is not liable for failure to perform any obligation due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:
  • Natural disasters

  • Pandemics

  • Government regulations

  • Utility outages

  • Acts of God

Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse service or remove any guest for:
  • Failure to provide valid ID or payment

  • Violation of hostel rules or policies

  • Disruptive, unsafe, or illegal conduct

Guests removed for such reasons will not receive a refund. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. All enforcement actions comply with applicable laws.

Digital Communication Consent

By providing your contact information, you consent to receive texts and emails from Stay Classy Hostel regarding your reservation, stay, or promotions.
You may opt out at any time by replying "STOP" or contacting the front desk.

Video Surveillance

All common areas are monitored 24/7 by security cameras for the protection of our guests.

Tenancy Disclaimer

Your stay constitutes temporary lodging only and does not create a tenant-landlord relationship.
You are not entitled to tenant protections under California law.
Management may remove guests at any time for violations of hostel policy, without notice or refund.

Liability Disclaimer

  • Stay Classy Hostel is not liable for personal loss, injury, or damage

  • Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless the hostel, its staff, and affiliates from any claims

  • We recommend guests obtain travel insurance for personal protection

Dispute Resolution

  • Any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with California law

  • Arbitration will take place in San Diego County

  • This clause does not limit your right to bring a claim in small claims court

Changes to Terms

If we make significant changes to these Terms of Service, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before they take effect.
Notice may be given by email, on our website, or through signage at the hostel.
Continued use of our services after that time constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
